Shooting Flames

Is it bad for my car to shoot flames? I am running E85 and when I go full throttle up to 5500rpm then let off and coast still in gear, I will shoot a flame a few feet out the exhaust at 5000rpm... Is this ok? It looks f*cking awesome!!!!!!

I know that with gasoline it is normal on a very free flowing or short exhaust but I did not think that E85 could do that. The flames are from the car going into decel mode and the rich exhaust gas mixture combines with the oxygen outside of the exhuast system and because of the heat from the exhaust it ignites. My N/T shot huge flames out but I was only running a manifold.

I dont think thats normal. Sounds like a tuning problem.

Do you guys see different EGT's with e85 vs regular fuel?

It's most likely just unburnt fuel from the car going into decel mods as mentioned above. I've seen short "pops" of flame from this, but never one that continues for more than just a half second or so.

I also used to get this when I had an atmosphere dumped BOV on a stock MAS.

My car also does it. Just not as bad as you mention. What afr's are you running?

on hard deceleration the timming is retarded and if their is unburnt fuel
in the exhaust it will shoot flames. mine does it too if i shift right at redline 7500rpm.

Just throwing this out there...but my car only creates fireballs when I have some sort of exhaust leak. Usually at the 02 or the manifold. Everytime I see a flash in the tree line from a flame I check the bolts the next day, sure enough they are loose. Tightening them resolves the issue for me.
