Shock spring hitting left camber screw

Replacing shocks and spring on my 99 eclipse. The original shock and spring which was a Tokico HP that the previous owner put in noticed that the camber screw was hitting both rear shock springs. When I hit a bump it feels like the rear two wheels are going to fall off and would hear the lound thumps along witht he screw hitting the spring.

Just got some new Tokico Illumin shocks and spring. Got the old ones out and put the first side in. Notice that the camber kit screw was still hitting the spring. Looking directly at the whole shock from top to bottom seem it is angled to the left from top to bottom and not straight.

Attach is two picture of how the area looks like. Seems my whole rear axle is off or something since when looking at the shock it angles so much and the screw is eating into the springs. Don't want it to happen to the new springs I am putting in. Never seen anything like this before. Any thoughts or experience with this before so that the screw will not hit the spring?

I've never seen that happen. Are you sure that that's the rear spring?

Is the bolt in backwards? maybe try flipping it and see if it still contacts

I thought spring were sort of universal front and back. Is it not like the actual shocks. Since the shocks you can tell which is which but is there a difference in springs?


Didn't think of changing the bolt around. Will give that a try.

Thanks for your inputs guys! Still have the spring question though. Is the springs made specfic for front and back or is it universal? THey all look the same to me.

the bolts are backwards. pull them out and flip them around.

The front/rear springs are not even close to being the same. And the springs that are wide in the middle are almost always the fronts.

The bolts are almost definitely the way they're supposed to be. I'm pretty sure you have the springs at the wrong end of the car.

Fudge me!! after putting all four shocks and spring in the car looks like a hot rod now. How the fudge did that happen?? Springs backwards or something that would cause the rear to have it's thing so high up and the front so low like a hot rod.

Literally I am not even kidding after all the time I put in and now have to do everything. Fudge. Be back when I #### it up and end up with the front end being the hot rod.

Too bad that no-one warned you that the front and rear springs are very different, with the fronts being larger in diameter and also a higher rate....

Thanks jtmcinder. Wish the instructions came with more information. I went back and looked at the springs and there was a little sticker on each springs and see some numbers along with a "R" on the two front springs that I put in the rear. Checked the rear and see some numbers on a little sticker with two "F" on the two rear springs I put in the front of the car. No wonder I have a hot rod and not a regular car.

Now have to redo all four corners. Uggh!!

Thanks for all your input and help but I learned that you should take everything out of the box not just the first spring you see under some other box.
