first off, i have a ACT 2600 and clutchmaster cylinder was replaced like 3000 miles ago.

i have and awd laser and when i first bought it, it had a bad clutch master, also grinds 1st since the day i got it (gotta tap second before).

now to get to the problem...well my car likes to grind second when it is cold so i gotta double clutch it to get it in and sometimes even then it will still grind just a quick CLANK! and vibration.

once it warms up a bit i have to kinda put it in second quickly after engaging the clutch for it to be smooth, but it almost always grinds.

also it grinds third (i think this is syncros) just kinda dosent want me in there so it kinda trys to kick me out as i go in.

also from about a 10 mph roll even if i tap second it wont let me in first just grinds, i discovered this out the other day and it scared the sh!t out of me because it never did that before.

just changed the trans fluid with redline mt-90 a month ago, didnt help..

im thinking maybe the pivot ball is bad becuase the same part of the clutch fork that hangs out of the trans that the slave pushs is not centered as i believe it should dbe centered, right?

i think thats its.
thanks to all of you that can help or atleast read all of that.
SORRY ABOUT THE LENGTH!

Sounds like your clutch is dragging. Most likely from not being adjusted right. Try to put the car into first gear while youre on a flat surface and clutch pedal is all the way to the floor. Rev the car til the car starts to move on its own. If the car moves it means that the clutch is dragging and eather needs to be adjusted or the pivot ball shimed.

YouTube - Proper Clutch Adjustment

It sounds like synchros, but try adjusting the pedal assembly and also the shifter cable at the shifter base. You can also put skateboard bearings in the shifter ends at the tranny. A search will explain what I mean.

ive seen that video before, my car dosent budge with the clutch engaged up to around 5500 as far as i know ### i have launched at that.
i already have skateboard bearings in the cables (forgot to mention that).
how do you adjust the cable at the base? and to which directions should i adjust it?

thanks guys

also pretty sure its adjusted right, the rod is only screwed in a few threads so that it is flush with the back side of the assembly...if that makes sense.

If you have not done so already try this http://www.geocities.com/qwik93awd/Vfaq/shifter.htm

I couldn't imagine those nuts working loose so easily but I checked mine just to be sure and they were both loose as hell. The top nut was a couple turns loose. They are both suppose to be over 100 ft/lbs. This can cause all kinds of weird shifting problems and grinding.

There may be other worn parts like the shift fork but this is simple and could be a contributing factor even if it doesn't completely solve your problem.

yeah, ive seen this before but mine dosent move around in fifth other than a bit side to side not front and back.
maybe if i get time ill try this, thanks to all of you!

I just screwed around with adjusting the cable until it shifted better. Make some marks/take some measurements so you can put it back where it was or know how much you are lengthening/shortening the cable.

I swapped another tranny in last weekend and had to readjust the cable again. So it is pretty important to find the length that gives the shifter the correct throw. I was getting blocked out of 4th and missing 3rd half the time at the track before I adjusted the cable. I had to make mine about 3mm longer and after that I rarely missed another shift and didn't get blocked out of gear again. I only switched to a built tranny to get ready for my HX-35 going on soon.

thanks for all the help guys, i looked at the shifter assembly today and found out how to adjust it, ill adjust it today if i get some time, i got work soon:(

i just looked at the slave before i was gonna try to adjust the clutch and the slave is fully compressed(the rod is inside the slave itself) and that part of the fork sticking out the trans is all the way over towards driver side. also a little bit of play back and forth from the slave rod and the part of the fork. so im guessing i have a dead slave or its the fork and pivot ball.

does that sounds right to anyone?
