I want to go to a short throw on my 90 gsx and i know theyre like the bastard child of the dsm's as far as having parts that only fit them and i know the shifter assembly is one of them.Does anyone know a good brand of short throw that will drop right in and work well.
I don't want to go with some generic one cause i've heard that if they arent made right the shifter will over throw syncros and grind gears or something like that. Any suggestions would be great thanks in advance.

Have you heard of the "Symborski Shifter Kit" Its not really what you are lookiong for with efforts of a "short throw" shifter... However this kit does infact improve shift feel (in my opinion 60-70% better).

there are no short-throw kits for the 1990 available.

As you noted, it is a unique beast. Short-throw for the 91+ will not work on a 90. You will have to get creative.

Suggestions, in no particular order, and with no relationship to each other:

-fit a complete 91+ setup, including clutch cabling
-cut down shifter rod an inch
-different shift knob to replace the horse ####
-do the various shifter improvements such as skateboard bearings under the hood and at the shifter base, replace the bushings in the shifter base, etc.
