shifter problem?

I have been trying to solve a hard shifting problem for awhile now and I cant seem to get my car to shift smooth. When I bought the car (about a year ago) the clutch felt like there was nothing there and it shifted terrible. This is on a 93 Eagle talon tsi awd

I am having most of my trouble getting into 3rd gear.

This is what I have done so far:

transmission rebuild by JNZ Tuning
ACT 2600 with street disk, and light weight flywheel, used the ACT TOB
new OEM clutch master cylinder
new OEM slave cylinder
welded the clutch pedal assembly
adjusted the rod, adjusted the linkages
I just installed the shifter cable end bushings from jnz

The shifting got alot better, but just isnt smooth like it should be (mostly upshifting to 3rd)

So I decided to take my shifter apart. The symborski shifter kit was installed by the previous owner. To my knowledge the shifter is from the factory. I took some pictures of the shifter just to see if anyone noticed something wrong, or if it is an oem shifter for sure...

I thought this rubber bushing was torn when the shifter was still on, but it looks like thats the way it was designed, it also moves around very freely.

Here is a problem I have on my 91. Check the bracket on the tranny were the cables are bolted to. My cable bracket only had one bolt so I had a hell of a time getting it into R and 5th 3rd well all gears really.

Check that first. Then Check your tranny fluid level.

That shifter's been re-worked, probably to make a short shifter. I don't know if that's why it's shifting poorly.

PIMking- I know the trans fluid is good, I will be checking the bracket today.

Defiant- I thought it looked like someone changed it, I never got to look at an OEM shifter though.

are OEM 1g NT shifters the same as turbo awd 1g shifters?

Im having the same problem, and I too have adjusted the linkage, but it never went straight in smooth, always a little clunky. Also sometimes it wont go into first or reverse (i have to play with it). The guy I bought it from also said that the transmission has a longer fork?!? dont know which one if there are more. So any input would probley help. Thx
