shifter linkage maybe?

so i was driving last night and i went to bang 2ed gear and i shifted and it went in 2ed and the shifter just kept going back. like i pulled back to go to 2ed and it went to second but shifter kept going back till it couldnt go anymore and the shifter feels different. possibly the linkage? the car just got a newer jdm trans put it too. anyone got any idea what it could be

Is the car stuck in 2nd gear? I don't understand what your asking here? Maybe the shift cable came out of it's mount? We need more info. Also don't forget rule #6 (spelling, punctuation, and grammar)

my bad im at work right now just trying to type fast. im trying to explain its not stuck in gear. when i shifted into second gear it went it to gear and insted of the shifter stopping when i got into second the shifter didnt stop it pulled down more i thought i bent the shifter. when its in 2ed or forth i can pull back on the shifter when its in gear and it goes back and i can get the shifter to actually go all the way back to where the shifter hits the outer part of the shift area. sorry i am explaining this pretty bad im trying to describe what happen.

So basically what your saying is when you select 2nd and 4th gears (either one) the shift lever itself will go back until it hits the center console trim? Just want to make sure I understand this correctly.

Sounds like shifter bushing and/or cable bushings too me.

Do the 2g's (sorry I'm a 1g guy) shifters have stops on the shift lever base?

yea i can pull it back and it hits the trim and now it kinda grinds going into reverse. also the shifter its a little bit loose has play to it

Check out the under hood cable bushings and let us know how they look. Does it do this motion ONLY when going into 2nd, 4th, and REV?

i think it is only in 2, 4, and reverse. ill check when i get home from work and ill let you know. like theres nothing stopping the shifter from moving around but it still drives and goes into gear
