Is there a trick to removing the clips that hold the shifter cables in place (both on the tranny side and the shifter side)? Or just pull really hard?

Solution
Open-end wrench laid flat on the housing, just thick enough to let a screwdriver ....er.... proper prying instrument fit under the clip. If you run out of leverage room, use the next-thicker wrench.
I have only removed the ones on the tranny side and I have a GS but all I did is use a pair of pliers and rested the pliers on the metal suport thing that hold the cable and used that as a leverage point and just pulled it out. Hope it helps

okay this is my trick... i get a screwdriver or something long to support my prying the bracket out... use a flat head and place it under that fold on the clip. then get another piece of anything hard to make a see-saw effect so that you push down on the handle and the leverage does the work for you...

are you talking about teh shifter bushings? inside the little ring? if so here is what i did.

I took needle nose pliers and tore away at one side of the bushing. I just tore the little lip off and as soon as i finished. hammer and screwdriver and it poped right out.

Things I love about DSMers #467: The right answer is usually "bang on it with a hammer."

Thanks all for the help, got them out easily using your suggestions.
