Are the shifter cable brackets on a Galant jdm tranny shorter then the USDM 1g's?

I'm having issues with the shifter going into the three fwd gears. (1st, 3rd, and 5th)

It's not close enough to the shifter arm on the tranny to put it into these gears.

I read via searching that some people have just switched the cable brackets for their USDM one and it solved it. Other say they had to cut the adjustment stud on the shifter cable to make it work.

Just trying to get some clarification on this so i can go log a run on my new motor.

Just lengthen the cable (the one for those gears) under the shifter boot, as big as it will go without falling off.
