2G shift lock cable help

Well its an auto of course 97 gst and my gear/shift lock cable has gone bad by the looks of it the bracket the bolt holds up has gone/snapped! And I'm going to match every piece up bit by bit to be 100% sure its not just that that's gone! Anyway my question is can I by pass the brake lock so I don't have to press the brake pedal to push the button on top of the shift lever? As it push's a cam? So the manual says? That locks the shifter from moving! Well any help would be great and if I can't find what I need I guess its not that hard to change the cable over or is it thanks and I hope someone can help on my issue. Oh and on a side note if I find the bracket do you think its ok to just weld it back on? Or would it be better to replace it?

It don't really I mean the code 24117 is the closest thing but that's still not the thing its apart of it! I'm on about the bacle from the brake pedal and the shifter cam item 24117! The long cable there is a bracket on the end of it near the cam section that's broke off! Just want to know if its safe to weld it back on of if I should just buy a new part? Coz I don't have any tig I would only beable to mig it! Hope this answers it and its all ok to just weld as I'm in the u.k I don't wana have to buy parts if poss shipping kills me haha cheers though
