I was driving around and got on it and went throw a couple gears fast. When i went to put it back in first i had to shove it in. Its like somethings holding it from going in. It doesnt click into gear you have to just push it all the way in. its only gears 1 3 5. 2 4 R work fine. I checked everything out and theres nothing in the way or anything. I have no idea what happened. Anyone got any ideas

What you can try is adjusting your linkages. Your 1, 3, 5 are your front to back linkages. Pull the shifter boot and center console, unhook the 2 cables, center the shifter(so its at its natural center) and adjust the cables so they slip over the linkage ends easily. **edit** Sorry, just noticed that you have a 2g, those were instructions for a 1g. Maybe try and pull the console and take a look inside and see if anything is out of whack.

It is possible that one of the linkages frayed and are getting bound up inside the cable tube making a resistance in shift throw. Also feel the accordian-like rubber boots under the hood for frayed cable underneath also. Discoonect the cables and try and move them back ad forth to help narrow your search.

was thread digging and i tried it the way prplhz says to do it and it didnt work. how do I adjust them?

The 1g has a bolt on the cable that you can adjust. Its under your center consol though. You will have to remove all that to get to it i believe. It is right on the cable that connects to your shifter. You cant miss it. If adjusting does not work then i would check at the transmission. You could have a bracket broken or your cable could be messed up. It's easier to have someone inside running through the gears as you check over it all.
