While i was driving today i was in third gear and when i drive i rest my hand on the shifter, but today when i did it the car went into neutral. So i immediately pressed in the clutch and put it back in third gear, but just to make sure that it did go into neutral without pressing in the clutch i tried it again and sure enough it easily shifted into neutral from third without pressing in the clutch. I have only tried this in third gear, I have an exedy clutch and ACT flywheel. The car drives fine, but i know its not supposed to do that and was wondering how to fix it. :dsm:

But don't do it on purpose. :nono: For 7 yrs I was shifting into neutral w/o clutch just before stopping (2-3 mph) when the speeds matched perfectly (and unloaded) so it just slipped in easily. And it always worked fine. Well I finally paid the price 6 months ago when I had to get the tranny rebuilt - bent forks, couple gears, synchros, and other stuff. $1200 and that's with me pulling it and reinstalling. Now you better believe I never shift w/o the clutch!!!

What's your clutch engagement point like? Just to throw it in there--I didn't tighten down the adjustment screw for my clutch master cylinder adjustment rod all the way and it somehow backed out. Earlier today I had the same problem as you, coupled with a really really high engagement point.
