I have just did a 6 bolt swap with all the supporting mods. how do i set the base timing. i went to roadracingegineering.com and read the forum. but i need details. my motor runs smooth. i have not touched the cam angle sensor ever since i swapped it. i put the timing gun to it and i reads like 40 degrees timing. if i turn it all the way to the left, which is retarding it. the car feels like it has no power and the timing reads at 10 degrees. but then i put back to how it came, 1st and 2nd breaks the tires loose.

Now i was reading http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htm. it says to set to turn the little center peace 180 degrees around. first of all. do i have to do this step. what happens if I dont. right now my car runs ok. and if i do which way clockwise or counter-clockwise. what is the base timing the timing light should read. please help. i also get random misfire CEL. but i will get dsm link later and fix that. but 4 now i want to set the timing right. thanks:mad:

thanks guys but i still don't understand why roadraceenineering.com says to take off the cas and turn the little center peace 180 degrees from what it is. ????

Never heard of doing that. Just loosen the bolts and turn it to adjust. Also make sure you ground the timing adjustment plug or it wont work. If you have a data logger you may beable to run a little advanced, gain some power. I have no fuel mods so im running 11psi at almost 10 btdc with minimal knock. I may have to lower it due to the heat but seems to be doing ok. There was a huge increasment in power from 5 to 10, I was surprised

What you're referring to about turning 180* is if the CAS is 180* off which it doesn't sound like yours is. If you have DSMLink you can ground the timing from within the program.
