Ok so ive checked other post but none have exactly wut i need. While ago had engine rebuilt, got it back it had an erratic idel but ran fine under load. Shortly after the timingbelt stripped. No bent valves so i proceeded to do the timing myself, after i had got the belt on i took it to my friends shop to see if i had set the timing correctly. My friend(who owns several DSM's) said i had set it right(better then his guys, got a job there now), so we started the car. It ran fine, better then when i got it back from the rebuild, so i took it home to wait on its new exhaust system. Three days lata i tried startin it to go get exhaust put on, and nothing, it turns over but no attempt at start. I have spark, fuel, and compression. I'm not sure if the timing jumped when i turned the car off in driveway, but wanted to get and opinion before i take the covers off all over. Anyone got anything??
(getting the t.belt covers off/on wuz harder then setting the timing in my opinion)

The 3 main reasons why an engine wont start is Fuel/Spark/Compression... and since you say your getting all 3, its a really tough call..

Have you made sure of the obvious of everything being hooked up correctly?
Any CELs?

How are you making sure that your getting Spark/Fuel/Compression??

For example, i know that the 1g's wont turn on if the temp sensor on the thermostat housing isnt connected..

You say no bent valves so I assume you took the head off. Make sure all the sensors are connect like was said above. Our cars have a ton of connections.

i'm having the same issue but in my case i'm sure its the gas in the tank. car sat for over a year and had a hole in the fuel filler hose. it started last week but the exhaust stunk of bad gas and the engine sputtered quite a bit. i removed the filler hose and lost about 1/2 the gas that was remaining in the tank (i had like 3/4 tank). i left the system open for like 3 days. when i went to start the car it sputtered like it was on 2 cylinders. i checked and was getting spark on all 4. i removed the plugs and they were soaked. i grabbed a hand torch and the bad gas on the soaked spark plugs didn't even stay lit !! now i just have to drain the bad gas and put in some fresh stuff

by the way, i couldn't get it started either about 3 months back. turned out the alternator was bad and i wasn't getting a warning light. i plugged in a mitsubishi alternator (didn't mount it though as the case was not for a 1g 4g63 engine) and the car started.

Yes i am sure everything is plug up correctly. I pulled all my plugs, checked for spark, pulled hose off fuel rail, pushing gas so there f.p. I also did a cyclinder compression test all all, and they all fell within parameters. I forgot to mention that my battery was dead possiably making the engine turn slowly. Could my turbo timer being spliced into rpm signal, vehical speed senor line, and such be causing all this?? I put everything back the way it was before i spliced it in and still nothing. Im stuck with my baby sitting till i figure this out.

turbo timer spliced in there shouldn't cause a no start. battery dying might. why did it die? and i would recheck timing in case it wasn't done right or the tensioner went bad

the battery is dead because it was out of the car over a weekend and it grounded itself out. Ima check the timing when i get a chance and ill repost shortly.

OK so i checked the timing, Its set perfectly. Unplug/repluged all electronics on the engine and still no start. It just cranks over and refuses to start........ once again i have spark, fuel, and compression, but it just wont start. Any ideas? Anyone know a good DSM shop down here in south Florida? Cant google any, they wont show it.

No my plugs are fine the breand new NGK and they are getting spark. I do not have any CEL light, but im going to get an analog reader and see it i get any codes i can compare to my Chiltons manual. Could it be CAS not sending spark at right time? Thats the only non-newish part on my engine....

Check your plugs. after sitting a while and having a few DSM's with off brand plugs (non-NGK) i have seen the plugs fail. I found its best to remove them and check for spark through the wires and plugs as apposed to the old way i did it of just removing the wire. i did this 2 weeks ago and couldn't find what was wrong. decided to remove the plugs to check them and they were ALL bad. they were ACdelco i think. i would have never thought all 4 would go bad but they did. wouldn't be surprised if you have the same problem.

So my car still wont start........ I check everything on the engine again, and still cant find anything that would make it not start. Had my friend, who owns the car shop, to check my timing....again.... and he says that it is fine. We are both stumped as to what is happening but i really would like some advice. Thankx

Could be a lot of things. CAS, ECU, Fuel Pump, etc... We need to start doing some heavy troubleshooting and narrow things down. I've had a couple bad ECUs, when you turn the key to the "On" position, does the stock boost gauge on the cluster go to 0 or does it stay at the bottom? Also does your check engine light come on for about 5 seconds when you turn your key to the on position? When my ECUs went bad the stock boost gauge on the gauge cluster wouldn't budge. For it to start it would have to go to 0. So if it doesn't move, pull the ECU, open it up and check for any damage.

Yes my CEL light comes on then goes off when i put key to on position. My boost gauge works but now my tach wnt move. Fuel pump is fine i'm getting fuel, I am goin to pull my ECU and check all th caps, though it is just 3 yrs. old. I'll get back with updates as i've been out of state for a month.
