Well as most of you know and most of my friends know, ive been rebuilding my motor in my car lately....well lately means months.....and months and months. I started at the beginning of the year and im still not done! Set backs after set backs have dont nothing to improve my progress. Everything from getting 3 bad cv joints (all brand new....just simply the wrong ones - thanx AutoZone - you f*cks!) ,to replacing my upper suspension arm due to my ignorance, to just tearing my timing belt assembly so many times, i could do it in my sleep! (and im not happy about it too) and along with other small stupid sh*t things happening. Not to mention, my father...MY OWN FATHER ruined the f*cking nut that holds on the oil pump drive pulley with an impact gun to prime the oil pump. After this stroke of genius wreaked havoc on my car, the oil pump shaft becomes stripped. everything down the ####ing drain, and not to mention this was all sparked by low oil pressure - did everything from take the head off to inspect things to dropping the oil pan to again inspect everything. Now for the billionth time, I not my father...I have to take everything apart and fix his f*ck up! And also on top of that.....he`s telling me to take my time, but get this car fixed because its been sitting here for too long. (REALLY????!!!!!) Its kinda hard to do all this with little to no money and on top of all this happening, ive been trying to find a new job to make more money and to find my own place to live (yes i`m living with my parents still - pathetic I KNOW!) Im soooooo pissed about all this. I know it doesnt really sound like it, but my fustration with everything thats happening with my life and this f*cking car its all just f*cking set backs im tired of it.

Same here man! When you feel fed up go to the beach or something. Then you will come back with a clear head and you can then clearly make plans for your car.

I know how you feel. It seems like everytime I touch something on mine something needs to be fixed. I went through 5 alternators from autozone. None of them lasted more than a few hundred miles. They thought I was doing something wrong. They said "Brand new alternators dont just go bad that fast" I said put it on the tester and sure enough. Another bad one. This one has lasted about 400 miles or so. I remember having to do my timming belt 4 times within a months time. I have even thought of selling my GS-T and get a GSX-R. But when everything is finally working half way right I always decide to keep it.

Its ok man. Next time on the oil pump drive gear sprocket just use a normal 7/16 (this is what worked for me very well) socket and either a battery powered or wall powered drill.

It took me about a year to get my car right. I swapped in one engine and didnt take special care to have a good shop build for me. On top of that I didnt reassemble the oil pump and balance shafts properly and trashed the motor because of no oil pressure. It took about 4 months for the shop to build the motor but the wait was VERY well worth it! After I got it installed my stock turbo went out so it was down again for parts. The stock ECU also took a crap so I had to pull it and have my parents send it in for me while I was at school. The turbo went bad shortly after that. After the turbo was fixed the transmission took a shyt along with my clutch. After that was fixed my timing belt assembly started giving me issues. The tensioner pulley bolt vibrated loose and made the timing belt come loose. I heard the noise and inspected which resulted in me downing the car for about a month and some change. Its been doing OK ever since but I need to finish ordering parts so I can swap my new SBR build head onto it. Its never ending but every step is satisfying.

Sometimes you get so frustrated you just want to go on a baby punching tangent but remeber there is always consequenses for your actions. And always remember things could be worse. You could own a crappy mustang LOL. So look on the brighter side.:thumb::talon:

Hey man I know what you mean. Trust me...I took apart my 95 GST, still running so dont know how the future will be :), to do a basic 6 bolt swap...After I decided I ordered the fuel system (tank-fpr) with new injectors and one thing after another and broker by the month. But I just got the head on, and have to do the new cams and lifters, and but the front case and water pump on and hopefully it will all work and not something stupid go wrong. But the positive I have learned is I am glad I have another vehicle. But like tonight I had to go exchange my torque wrench, and a bolt extracter, started pulling the bolt out and snap so now I have to figure this out, but the great thing about these cars is it seems like persistence (in a good way) seems to eventually make them become good cars. LOL. Good luck to all that are in our situation

I had a situation like this where I rear ended someone got a new front cross member put in, then my glass got shot out, than I ran over my stock sidemount, then I broke a bolt loose in my driver side motor mount, and after all that my car randomly stopped firing and my dad wouldn't let me or my friends try and fix it so it sat at this mechanics place for about 6 months I finally said screw it and sold it for a mustang 5.0, regreted selling it till I got another DSM LOL. Moral of the story no matter how much she pisses you off, just chill out and come back to her because once shes gone you'll wish you had never done it.

man i feel your pain. in may i drove my car for the last time because i was going to rebuild it. i ordered all my parts and finally got my motor out and brought it up to the machine shop. once there he told me the pistons were wrong size and my crank was bad. so i bought a 100mm crank and 2.3l stroker pistons. turns out again they sent me the wrong pistons..so finally i got the right ones he got the motor all put together and i got it back home 2 months later. he brought it home with no timing done on it. and didnt bother to tell me i needed to buy a new oil pump and woodruff key. so finally i ordered them and got them yesterday. we timed it and got it back in my car last night and ti ran for the first time in over 3 months. i feel your pain man.

Gotcha there, man...after two years of a build time ending in May, my 1G's timing slipped in mid-June, calling for a rebuild. Old pistons out, new 2Gs in, .040 over the block, all new gaskets/belts/bearings/etc...and the only thing holding me up is a head I've purchased from a member of tuners to ship. Seriously, I could finish the car in a day if I had the top end around.

Well I got all you. My car has been out from April 2004 until just now, August 11th. I've put over $22,000 into just to have my Magnus Throttle body shaft snap at the track on August 17th, and it broke at WOT leaving the throttle open in between shifts from 1st to 2nd and f*cked my brand new Jacks Racing Premium tranny, smoked my new ACT clutch and scarred the pressure plate and flywheel. Also the bolt where the shaft attached to the plate broke in half sending chunks of bolt down 2 of my cylinders. Not sure of the internal condition yet, havent pulled head yet, but spark plugs got pinched closed and are all dented up, so i'm guessing about $8000+ in damage, when I find out my fully built motor is garbage. Thanks Chinese throttle shafts!
