Sent my car to maaco for a signature paint job

bullshit it is all really about luck up there. i paid 400 for a paint job one time it was like a discounted price because it was like that time of the year or whatever half off bullsht. well anyway people thought it was a 3,000 dollar paint job and i was like dude... it was, im rich son. ya i paid 400 for it and they had to get rid of the rust and pull all my dings out

actually, it looks great. i have used maaco quite a few times......... there paint jobs do hold up. they use the same paints that any other shop uses, but they buy it in 55 gallon drums. so they keep their cost down. now every time i let them paint a car, i prep it, and once im in the parking lot, i tape it off myself. i hate to have paint on the moldings. but i still see the cars that i got painted there and sold. 6-8 years later, they still look good and shiny. so i do not beleive you get what you pay for. now their body-work may be a different story, cause they charge like 32.00 per hour, and any other body shop charges like 80.00 per hour. so who knows.....

Nice! I had my civic painted at maaco. The good thing about maaco is that they don't charge paint color. My civic was SI milano red. I had it estimated at the little paint shops around my house and they charged 400 more then what maaco would of charge.
HONESTLY, when you take it to maaco, it is not the shop but the guy working on your car. My buddy had his painted at another maaco where an asian guy work (we're asian). He did a good job on it and the paint is still on his car shiny and everything. Clean like the day it came out the shop.
Same thing on my civic. YOU have to remember that NOT all maaco are the same, YOU GOT THE CRAPPY WORKERS AND THEN YOU GOT THE GUYS WHO REALLY LIKE THE CAR TO TURN OUT WITH QUALITY.
3 years later when I sold my civic, no paint chips or falling off, clear coat was still looking new. But of course I'm a clean car freak so my car is always clean and wax/ polish. We got the presidentail work btw.

Like most chains, there's good & bad places but the most important thing is you get what you pay for. I've seen some jobs they've done that are crap & then also seen show car quality work. Its not rocket science, if you pay $400 for a paint job, thats exactly the quality you get. If your paying several thousand, then the job should reflect that.

I'm sure most of the guys complaining about the Maaco work got the least expensive paint job they offered?

The best paint job ever?

Buy some Rustoleum conversion primer and some Rustoleum black and some Rustoleum gloss. 200.00 worth of spray paint and you will have a great looking paint job that ensures rust will never happen on your car.

Im a paint freak.....and I must say that from what I can tell from the pictures....it actually looks really good. I would never take my car to Maaco though.

The maaco here in Ocala is known for doing quality work. The owner inspects every car through the processes and before it leaves and he's really picky. But no matter where you take your car you need to figure out if they will actually do a good job or bad job before you steriotype.

Your right about that, Maaco does a good job if you actually pay for the their highest quality paint and body work. The people that complain are the ones who bring their car in for the cheap paint and no prep job. When I had my integra I did the body work and prep the car myself, had Maaco paint the car and it came out nice.
