I have a few spots of rust on my car that I'm planning to scrape off. I won't be painting it just yet, so I'm looking for some kind of clear sealant to put over it so it doesn't start to rust again.

I seem to remember there being some kind of sealant that you are supposed to put on scratches that go through the paint.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm not sure about sealant but I just used a little bit of sandpaper only sanding down the little spots of rust and then just using touch up paint until I get the money together to get a new paint job works fine, not the best.

I havnt heard of the clear sealant, but I just sanded the rust spots down for now and got touch up paint that matches my paint so it doesnt rust till I get a full paintjob done this summer. The spots that I sanded and put the touch up paint on you cant tell from like 4 ft away and it hasnt rusted yet and I put it on during the fall, and went all through winter with no rust bleeding through. Ill post the name of what I got when I get home.

Okay, that actually sounds like a better idea anyways. Where's a good place to get touch up paint?

I went to pepboys, wouldn't recommend them for anything else really but if it's a temp fix it should be okay!
