Whats up guys. I recently bought myself another DSM I went to go see it from another state. the car was driving fine boosting good and shifting into all gears fine got home no problem. The next day that I went to take it out when I clutch and try to throw it into a gear you hear a scraping noise what sounds like is coming from the clutch and is hard to put into gear. it can be forced in and when i give gas and get the car rolling the noise stops. when the car is off i can put it into gear no problem. The guy I bought the car from is claiming the trans was rebuild recently and fidanza flywheel and act 2600. before I rip the trans out in my friends back years i just wanted to get some insite on what it could be. like i said before the car was shifting fine the day before. thanks guys

sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging all the way check your clutch fluid and lines make sure theres no air in the system. try the quick easy fixes first. make sure its adjusted properly

Could be a bad throw out bearing or maybe a gear in the tranny is going bad. I'd do that turboJake says. I swapped my tranny fluid with redline shockproof/pennzoil synchromesh. My tranny shifted like butter after wards.

I am thinking more along the lines of clutch hydraulics too.

Does the clutch drag at all? If you rev the engine up in gear with the clutch out does it start to engage?

If so it is likely something with the actuation of the clutch rather than the clutch itself.

Check for proper pedal adjustment, then any leaks at the master cylinder or slave. Change the fluid and bleed the system and look for proper actuation at the slave with help from a friend.

There are also 2 other possibilities along this line that sort of suck to fix. First is a worn clutch fork that needs to be shimmed or replaced. Look at where it comes out of the bellhousing to check this. This page describes all the way at the bottom

The last is the clutch pedal assembly is worn out. There is a mechanical linkage routing the clutch pedal movement over to where the clutch mater cylinder is. This linkage often gets worn out on the 1g cars running heavy clutches. Lift up on the pedal and look under the dash if you can see where it attaches to the master cylinder and see how much play there is in it. If the slop in the pedal is too great it takes up most of your movement and even with the rest of the system 100% it will still leave the clutch dragging.

The only fix is to pull it out and fix it. Most people use aftermarket brass bushings and weld the shaft onto the rod so it cannot round out again. It has to be welded very well though.

Here is some more info on all of this

I finally got a chance to pull the tranny. It turns out that a finger broke off the pressure plate. I went competition clutch with fidanza flywheel. the clutch that was in there was act 2600. thanks guys for the replies much appreciated.
