Scraping: front upper control arms & fender

I just found out that both front upper control arms were scraping the fenders. Luckily I only ran 2 autox events with my "new" car. Local race shop pointed it out to me, and also said that my car drop looks more like 2 1/4" (I was told 1.75" drop by prior owner).

Perhaps the drop amount and presumably soft springs are causing the arms to scrape inside fenders, as well as 255 tire/fender lip rubbing.

Is the best solution to buy coilovers w/ stiff springs?

Your car is too low and/or your (front) springs are too soft.

How many fingers' clearance do you have between the top of the tyre and the fender lip, and what size wheel/tyre are you running ? I can give you a guesstimate based on this info as to the spring rate you need to support that ride height.

What did the race shop recommend you do?

race shop suggested asking dsm autox'ers but thinks springs are too soft and ride too low. i agree the ride is too low for street and speed bumps; i got it that way.

don't recall distance when i had the 255/40/17 tires on; maybe 2 fingers, maybe only 1.
