hey i recently was looking at prices for a new turbo and came across these two turbos. I at first was very interested in the fp big t28 being that its a direct bolt on for a 2g but beign that im a fwd i know i might have traction problems (not sure, i have 235/55/16 tires). Well i came across these two turbos, the 2gb16g and the 2g20g from slowboy racing and was wondering if anyone had any experience with em and how they bolt on and perform. I assume that their only difference is that they have the jpipe welded on or something. I know they are completely different turbos, but i was wondering what kind of potential each of the three turbos have ( fp bigt28, sbr 2gb16g, and sbr 2g20g). Also should i go straight to getting fuel mods, i.e fuel pump, inj, fpr, afc. or should i port the stock manifold/02housing first (will it even make much of a difference in power).
Thanks again,
Taso

Those three were the same turbos I was looking into as well.. I went with a ported fp-big28 about 3 weeks ago.. My turbo is set at 16 psi by 3200rpm and holds that with no problem till redline with the proper supporting mods.. I do get wheelspin with this turbo on first and a lil bit of second since the turbo spools so fast but however I have stock tire size with a tire brand name called "radial hr" but a good pair of tires and lsd would definitly give you the traction you want.. The reason why I went this turbo is because it looks like a t25 with the power of a big16g or 2gbig16g.. The sbr2g20g will hit harder and can bring you to 400hp but you give up spool time.. The fp-big28 is a really good street turbo because you dont play catch up all the time.. As for supporting mods I have evo8 560cc injectors, 190 fp, safc, and a hahn sidemount.. For the 20g youll prolly need more supporting mods such as 660's, 255, fpr, and fmic.. If you like the sleeper style go with the fp-big28 but if you need more whp than 340 (supports up to 360) go with the 20g..

I think the T-28 is a poor choice for a FWD 2G. Lag is your friend, you don't want to see 18psi at 3200rpms, that is just a hinderance to traction and you are losing time. I would go with the 2g20G that way you have the better top end and mid range power. Lag is overrated, don't worry about that. If you can hit 20psi at 3600rpms that is just fine. You don't NEED the 255lph pump, you can still go with a 190pump. 550cc+ injectors are a must really with any turbo upgrade. I would go with 660s just to be safe. :thumb:

Yup, T28 = bad idea. I just sold my BIG28 Killer because I'm FWD and with my mods, I had full spool at 3K. This made awesome burnouts in 1st-3rd, but I didn't go anywhere. I went with a 20g and am kicking myself for not doing it in the 1st place.

thanks guys for ur replies and help... it seems like the 2g20G is the best way to go it seems like and being only like an extra 150 more than the t28 doesnt make it so bad moeny wise especially for the amount of power itll be making. also im guessing for the fuel setup the best way to go bout it is with 255 fuel pump 550 injectors...mabye 650's to be on the safe side and a new fpr and safc to control all that. any comments or other suggestions would be great

Uh-oh there is a thread on dsmtalk about it, better not get it

You can use the stock intake pipe, it just isn't the optimal choice. The 3" dejon pipe is about $100 and well worth it, I highly recommend it.

Yeah, you can get the larger pipe but I would use that $100 some other place first. All the numbers I have made are with a stock accordian. At this point the extra couple of HP could be found better with fuel upgrades. ;)

offtopic: but why are you getting 300+ hp and only running 14's? Is it because your fwd?
