SBI Iron Valve Guide Set 89-99 Eclipse/Talon 4G63 - CI Motorsports

I'd stick with the same material as factory, bronze
I had never heard of cast iron ones before, might have a specific application not sure?..

FACTORY ARE CAST IRON, IGNORE MY IGNORANCE LOL

I stand corrected, I just tore apart my second 1g head minutes ago. It had cast iron guides, and all the other components looked stock.
(the first head I tore apart must have had them replaced, the valves were not original either)

I still stick with my original statement to use what the factory did, so cast iron.
I read up some on this and found several posting like this one

:: View topic - Cast Iron or Bronze Valve Guides?

Lets see if anyone else has any input.

The cast guides hold up much better than the bronze ones. There are a lot of cylinder head specialty companies that won't even touch bronze guides because of their reliability issues when you start pushing the mileage on them.

Yea i will be taking everything to the machine shop and i just figured that its going to the machine shop so why not replace them and everything will be getting reground

why replace them if it is not needed?

the guides also come in +.001 and +.002
what ones you need will depend on if the guide hole is out of round, or gaulled
some times the STD guide will not have the proper press fit.

Im just tryin to make it as reliable as possible the head has about 125k on it and it dosent look like this head has ever seen a machine shop. I mean there are no bent valves on the head came off a running car. And its deff getting new seals. and make sure its flat
