Whats up? I was just reading my book about replaceing that head gasket, it is alot of work if you dont know what you are doing. But i would do it just to learn more about my car.

If the miles weren't 200K, I would learn. The problem is the stress created on the lower motor once you replace the head gasket.

One shop I spoke with pretty much told me, over 150k miles and it's not worth it. The motor needs to be rebuilt.

Three shops all said the same, buy a used motor and swap using the best parts available.

How much for it to be rebuilt? How much was a new or used motor?

Used $1,400. less than 65K miles. 6 month or 6K miles warranty.

Rebuilt $2,400. (didn't get the warranty info, too pricey for now)

$750 for them to do the swap, they will give advice for parts needed (water pump/clutch...)

Crated or new motor would be cool, but not for this car.


P.S. to rebuild mine would be too pricey also, price above is for another motor rebuilt.

That is crazy my bro in laws wife got riped off by her mechanic charged her like 2g to change the head gasket, i was like WTF be she is stuborn so i just kept silent. I would of been like go f your self man i aint going to pay that much idiot.

It all depends, did they replace the timing belt and water pump, and maybe the radiator...)?

Yeah $2,300 for used motor installed, if no other parts are needed. That's cheap for around here. I would be lucky to get off for less than $4,500 at most shops.

Why not ebay? Pay with paypal if its not everything they say it is you get your money back. Plus cant beat the price, If you dont plan on boost thats what i would buy.
