So my tranny is shot. and I am looking at getting another used tranny from a local seller.

My question is:

I currently have a ACT 2100 in the crap tranny. Can I take out the whole clutch/flywheel assembly, and just swap it into the new (used) transmission? Or will I need a whole new setup?

Also if I can do that, should I take it all out BEFORE or AFTER I remove the tranny from the car? Which is easier?

If your current clutch setup doesn't have an outrageous amount of miles on it then I would just leave it in. If it has been through a lot then it would be the easiest to just replace your clutch setup now while you have the trans out. If you are going to reuse the current setup then you shouldn't even have to remove it at all. Just take out your shot trans, leave your clutch where it is and put your new trans in. Easy as that LOL.

The clutch flywheel assembly is bolted to the crank not the trans. Pull the dead trans off and put the new one on.

EDIT: ^^ beat me to it :)

Haha, oh well the more input the better for the OP. At least we both had the same piece of advice and didn't have competing ideas LOL.

Yeah, the clutch and flywheel bolt to the block itself. That should be no problem at all. Just a matter of switching things over. Good luck

well take a look at the clutch and see how warn it is. but before you pull the clutch apart mark the flywheel, plate disk everything with a felt pen and put it back together just the same to keep even wear

Dunbar is right mark EVERYTHING and just check to make sure there are no grooves or an excessive amount of heat spots on the flywheel or pressure plate. Also check the depth of the material on the clutch disk by how deep the pockets are that the rivets are in, I'm not sure what the limit is for material but I'm sure you can find it on a thread on here.
