I got my car back from Mach V with a new engine with all forged internals, a billet Crank, ETS FMIC, recirc BOV, Walbro Fuel Pump, Fuel Lab FPR, 780CC injectors and a new FPT28 Turbo. Car dyno'd on a conservative tune @ 256HP/246Ftlbs at the wheels. I think it is running 20psi. There is more power to be had, but I asked for a conservative tune to start out with.
The car has 69,000 miles and is an auto. The problem I am having is the car freaks out on hard acceleration at highway speeds. Example: Cruising along at 55mph, I disengage Overdrive and punch it to pass. The car downshifts and the revs go flying up towards 7000RPM. It basically cuts the fuel and falls on its face. This doesn't happen all the time, sometimes it stays in whatever gear it is in after disengaging Overdrive and it hauls pretty well. I'm hesitant to get on it anymore with this nonsense going on, not to mention the boatloads of cash I have in this car now. Otherwise the car drives and shifts perfectly.
My end goal for this car is 340HP at the wheels. It is a street car, never raced or taken to the strip. Would I be better off at those power levels just yanking all of the auto drive train, selling the drivetrain to a drag racer and swapping in a manual? I really don't enjoy the car as it is, but I know I will be hard pressed to find another GSX in like new condition like this one.
