I've searched/googled and haven't found much that was conclusive. I was wondering if anyone here has used the Russel fuel filters instead of an OEM one? I mainly want to use a Russel because of the SS filter for use with e85. They say they flow up to 130gph, but I don't know how much an OEM filter flows as a comparison. They call it a "disc element" filter. There's a picture in the web page of the filter itself, definitely not paper.
 
Awesome! How does the 130gph flow capability compare to an OEM filter? Is it at least the same? I know OEM filters have supported up to 500hp and the fuelab 818 is rated @ 200gph.
 
Says they're rated for 1000hp...the real bottle-neck of the oem fuel system is the banjo bolt on the top of the filter and the rail inlet.
 
130 gph is 492 lph, but that figure is more than likely not a proven number. There's a fair chance they just took the cross section of the entrance and exit and got a figurative flow value at a set psi. Since it claims it flows that for a carbureted setup its more than likely assuming <10 psi which your fuel pressure should be 50+ more than that. Regardless, it'll work just fine as I and many others have ran nothing more than a bolted in walbro 255 and made 500+ and did 130mph traps on a stock fuel filter and line, and it flows a considerable amount more than a stock filter/banjo setup. For another 25 dollars you can get an allstar filter that'll be the last filter you ever buy and will support any power you can throw at it. It is considerably bigger however.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't bottlenecking my fuel system by putting the Russel on. I'm running an FP 255 fuel pump and FIC 850 injectors reaching for 350awhp. Also, how did you setup the Russel to work on the car? STM has a filter to rail kit, but that only works with an OEM filter. Any way to modify that to make the Russel work on the stock fuel lines?

I built my own 6an braided nylon line from tank to rail.

You could use a 14mm x 1.5-to-AN inverted flare adapter then use a female-to-female AN coupler to mate it with the russell filter. Then the filter to rail kit would work with that, but the adapter supplied in the kit would not be used (meaning...wasted money)
