Running out of fuel for some reason/heavy bogging, running VERY lean!

So, the Eclipse got tuned back in January on Dynapacks, the weekend before I left on deployment. It got tuned conservatively to 14 psi, plenty for my wife to handle while I was away. The car drove fine for about a month. One day, out of the blue, it died on the side of the highway. And my wife does not abuse the car... just normal driving in light traffic, and she said it leaned out on the Uego and died.

Fast forward: I came home off deployment in August and started digging into the issue. As of now, I have replaced the fuel pump with a brand new Walbro 255, I pulled the injectors out and had them sent to RC to be cleaned. Injector number 2 was reported as "dripping," it was cleaned, and all 4 tested excellent after the process. I am throwing a check engine light, but my reader reports it as "failing number 2 injector" even after the cleaning.

I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel filter, the MAF, and have done a boost leak test, to no avail. :banghead:

When you drive the vehicle, it drives fine up until about 3,000 rpms and roughly 5psi of boost, then it leans out and starts to shudder and bog. I thought maybe it was a tuning issue, so last Saturday I took the Eclipse to a local shop here in Hawaii and Chris from AMS in Chicago put it on the dyno. He couldn't complete a single full out run... tried a few times while he was playing with the settings on the Neo, and then brought it down off the dyno. He said the way the car's running, it seems like the fuel pressure is dropping as the RPMs climb. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge, so I can't verify that theory just yet. After this next paycheck I'll be ordering one and installing it just to see if this really is my issue.

I was wondering if maybe I should test the voltage on the fuel pump, and if so, where do I connect the multimeter leads? Also, should I do the rewire?

(As clarification, during normal acceleration, say from a stop light in first gear, AFR's will go from 13.x to anywhere 16.6 up to 18...blanking out the Uego. At cold idle, the AFR's are 11.0-14.0...at warm idle, AFR's are from 16.5-17.8)

Any input would be greatly appreciated. The car's been down since February and it really is a shame because she's a beast when she runs right! Thanks for your time guys! Any questions feel free to ask, and I'll answer as best I can :rocks:

have you checked for a boost leak... because if its hitting roughly like 5psi an dropping off an spuddering thats deff symptoms of a boost leak... an check your seals on your injectors because if your computers throwing a CEL in inj #2 then that seal might be where your boost leak is at because i had somewhat the same prob when i switched to 650cc's an the rubber seal had broken in half upon installing. so i changed the seal started it up an both where solved.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought I typed it in the original post, but I guess not. I did a boost leak test the night before it was going on the dyno. I had a minor leak at the Idle Air Control Screw in the throttle body. I pulled it out and it had a crack in it, so I replaced it. That was the only leak, after a half gallon of soapy water testing LOL. I've pulled the injectors since and inspected them as well, with no cracked or torn seals. It seems as though fuel isn't even getting to the rail at the psi it should be...

If fuel pressure is even a thought then you might as well go on and get an adjustable FPR seeing as you kinda need one anyways with that 255 because its most likely gonna overrun your stock one. Then not only will you have a tuning tool you will also know what is going on with your pressure. Also is the pump rewired?

I agree with ^^ , didnt see that you didnt see that you dont have a FPR.. an if you do decide to get one go with an aeromotive because its a great regulator an it also comes with a fuel pressure gauge so you can see where your at as well

I have an AEM AFPR sitting in my shed... I just havent had the time to hook it up yet. Im also kinda lost on how to do it... I need to pick up a fuel psi gauge

So, after about a G worth of parts and troubleshooting, it turned out to be the fuel filter. Thanks for all the input!
