Running lean

So i just turbo charged my 420a i think im running lean but im not sure im running a 12:1 vortec fmu with a 255hp walbro pump and a narrow band afr gauge (not a big help) i try running wot but the car bogs i let off and it gets up with only 1-2psi on boost gauge...but the car was doing this a little before i turboe the car i dont know whats wrong please help!

Do you have the fmu hooked up correctly?

Im pretty sure i do i used the diagram from here to installe...im waiting for fcd to come in to see how it will help but it was doin this a little before the turbo

Did you run your own return line to the tank then or did you install it in the rear by the filter?

do you not have a C.E.L.? If you can get your hands on a scan tool you can at least monitor real time values of the map sensor the 0/2 sensors even the short term and long term fuel trims to help determine whats going on and if its fuel related......If you think your running lean though and it started up doing this BEFORE you turbocharged the car you may be having issues with anything from the fuel pump to the TPS sensor bro.....You'll need to check the sensor values of everything before you know which fork in the road to take to problem city....

iv changed outboth o2 sensors and the map sensor with the tb being kind of dirty with oil when i tryd running wot it it kind of spits and sputters and if i let off to about 1/3 peddle the rpms will go up normaly and so mph but no boost

Are you getting proper fuel pressure while the engine is running/driving?

EDIT: Reread the entire thread.

You need the FCD, it will not run right until you install that. The stock computer cuts fuel when it sees boost. The FCD fixes that.

well the car runs great up to the point about 3psi and the it falls on its face...but im going to install the fcd see how it goes thanks everybody

I have done lots of research and it has lead me to this very thread. I will began by saying that I am one of those who decided to turbo my 420a. I have the turbo installed with the wastegate, the fuel pressure regulator, innercooler and wideband o2 sensor. I am planning on putting a greddy blue emange on my system. However, I need to know what is going on before I have it tunned. When I run my car, I noticed that my air and fuel ratio gauge says usually around 17.2. I understand this is lean and will cause heating. I don't plan on driving the vehicle until I can determine what is causing my car to run hot. I have read about a fuel cut defender. I am running on a stock map sensor. Do I need to obtain a 3 bar sensor and a fuel cut defender to stop my computer from seeing positive pressure? It is my goal to reach only around 8-10 psi on this motor. I rebuilt it but not with internals. The reason why I asked about the 3 bar map sensor is because I will be building a 420a from the bottom up and want to be running higher psi on that engine. In itself, I only want to buy something once. One other thing, when I place my car under load, the blow off valve blows itself off from the snap ring. It is a cheap blow off valve but what will be causing this to blow off when I can't even pull it off? Thanks for any feedback that you may give me.
