I jus recently bought a 92 Eagle Talon Tsi with Evo16g turbo, exhaust mani upgrade and all sorts of other turbo goods that you can read bout on my profile. But it has its problems the wide band is showin that is runnin lean all the time. The PO never hooked up the new o2 sensor and i cant find the wiring to plug it up.

would that cause my lean condition? If so if i hooked it back up if i found it by a miracle how would i tune the car so i can daily drive it. I got the boost turned down to basic stock boost no more that 10 pounds. I need help on gettin this thing tuned so ill feel safe drivin it

Its torn down right now. Im fixing a oil leak on the turbo. Previous owner broke the oil return line bolt off in the turbo so it has a leak from hell.

Anything to get my on the right path will help alot. Im new to turbos.

im not sure i understand. if the wide band isnt hooked up how do you know your lean? please explain a lil further with a bit more detail. theres a bunch a really cool guys on here smarter than hell, but we all need more info. what kinda guage is it? what part isnt hooked up? more detail please.
 
If there is no wideband sensor then how do you know its running lean?I'm not sure if thats what your trying to say.If it has a exhast leak before the sensor that would make the wideband read a lean condition also.
 
If its a 1g then the plug in its FACTORY location should be mounted directly under the waterneck. Its round in shape and has four pins. Im betting he unplugged the gauge because its a narrowband and bounced around like a ping pong ball ;)
 
when o2 is messed up or unplugged the cars ecu obviously dont read signal. the car goes into (as rich as possible) mode. the car will be rich as hell as a insurance policy aginst melt down. like loadin up rich no power studering fallin on its face rich.
 
I was running lean for a while until I found a leak before my 02 sensor. I fixed the leak and the wideband was back to where it should be.
 
i have an autometer wideband gauge and the o2 sensor is not plugged up so the guage jus shows that its lean, it stays at the bottom no matter what. And i dont know where to hook up the sensor. I cant find the harness that it clipss in to. Where would the stock location be at? Im not sure how the wide band is hooked up in the car. Could somebody explain to me where it ties into. Is it hooked to the ecu or spliced in the o2 harness that i cant find?

and there is an exhaust leak before the o2 right now
 
its an autometer wideband gauge. Im not sure how the wideband thing works at all and supposedly its a new o2 and its 4 wire if that helps any. I cant really test anything right now because i got the turbo pulled off removing a broken bolt in the oil return spot
 
i don't think u have a wide band gauge. sounds like u have a o2 air fuel ratio gauge, reads the voltage that o2 sensor puts out and it makes green and red light go up or down. the only thing that gauge is good for is to take a spot in a gauge pod.

yep thats what it is..i actually took the time to really look at it. Its an Autometer pro-comp air/fuel ratio gauge. Im gonna up load a pic if i can.

My question now is..what do i need to make this car run. I really dont care bout makin it super fast or puttin down the most power right now. I jus need it to be basically back to stock so i can drive it for now. It runs but jus not as good as i want it too.

ok im gonna do that. Its jus hard to really work things out because the turbo is givin me so much trouble. I cant run the car till i get that fixed. Its got a broken bolt thats givin me trouble from hell. I have another thread goin bout that. Check it out and tell me what you think.

It was up under the water neck like rush said. But after my o2 is hooked up will the car run like it should. Theres nothin else wrong wit the motor that i know of. I does have an upgraded 255 walbro and afpr but for right now i jus want it tuned for stock boost to get me home. Whats the stock psi i should run at for the fuel pressure? and the boost is already turned alll the way down, it only boost bout 7 psi

All the way down it should boost 9psi. Car should run with the o2 hooked up and functioning properly, and if you can't get the bolt out take it to a machine shop, I had to do that once.

ok thats what i need to know. Ive jus got the bolt situation fixed,was able to tap it enough for the new insert and bolt and its sealed up pretty good. Ive tried the search before and i never could get the answer i was lookin for
