Run stock head gasket?

Hey guys, my head has been milled to 5.179. Has anyone personally ran a stock felpro gasket with it being milled that low? BogusSvo said he has seen them milled to 5.16x and ran a stock head gasket. But was that with adjustable cam gears? I can't believe all the threads on "how much boost can my hg hold" people need to read.

what kind of clearances am i looking for? BogusSvo has list two different sets of numbers and weren't meant for stock cams.

Edit: Also, at what point does the timing start to be thrown off from being milled to much?

Most places will say that .100" is more than enough clearance. I've run a head/block with about .040" milled total without issues with comp 200's.

Is that with stock head gasket or a thicker one? I'm assuming that the comp 200 has a higher lift than stock correct? I couldn't find info on them. When you did the timing belt, how did you compensate for the timing loss?

It was with a felpro composite. I used adjustable gears to set the cam timing, but before they were adjusted I had no interference issues.

It all comes down to checking your individual setup.

I'll be checking the piston to valve clearance later this week. What cam gears do you prefer?

Just to add.

I have a 6 bolt swap with 6 bolt head, stock cams, and 2g pistons. Block hasn't been machined but obviously the head has been.

Bushur makes the best cams for best average power over the whole power band.[DOUBLEPOST=1415163350][/DOUBLEPOST]Stock or felpro, you shouldn't have any issues.

I don't doubt it, do you or anyone else have a dyno plot? I was thinking that is one of the keys to him running 9 or less! It "only" has 712 awhp but it must have such a broad useable powerband. Obviously there are many other factors, suspension set up, gearing, weight etc.

I haven't done it yet. I had to put it on the back burner cause a few things popped up. I'm shooting for this friday/Saturday. I'm almost tempted to just slap it in there and see what happens.

Yea, let us know your findings and any tricks you find out. I've only did it once and there was line ten of us in class.

So far what I've found out is that it's a total pain the ass to put the timing belt on with only two check springs putting tension on the belt. The play-do is probably going to get hard over night. I put oil over it to prevent it from sticking to the valves. So maybe the will help keep it soft.[DOUBLEPOST=1417989584][/DOUBLEPOST]It seems I'm having a hard time getting the timing marks aligned. I guess it's true after 5.185 things get funky. Any one have a good 1g head laying around?

Come to find out I had 1g spare head laying around. I'm just going to use that and I'll be doing a write up on this over the winter with my next engine build. Cause I'm really curious what the clearances will be.
