Rs?

I bought a base model Talon. Came with tach, AC (option), and rear window defroster (option). There was no radio, but it had four speakers in it that served me well for almost seven years. No power windows or locks and didn't even have the package shelf that goes over the cargo area in the hatch. No light in the hatch either, I might add.

$14,000 brand new. :D

Um... The only things I know that an RS does not come with for sure, are rear disc brakes, a power antenna, fog lights, painted door handles, rear wiper, side skirts, cruise control, and 16" wheels.

Whats so great is i bought my gs, I put a body kit on it, which got rid of the foglights and factory sideskirts. I have also removed the cruise control and shaved the rear wiper and power antenna and spoiler.

so i guess i got a gs for power door locks and windows onlyLOL

Man, I keep hearing of this Cruise control on GS models and I can't find it on my car at all...

WHERES THE CRUISE CONTROL??!! ROFL

Not at all. Bought the car with seven miles on it. Four of those were my test drive. Weekend after Labor Day 1996.

Yeah, exactly, now where's cruise control? Someone please tell me.

Sorry, my 97 RS has cruise control (plus power windows and locks). There is a button on the left side of my dash to turn it on. Then on the right side of the steering column is a lever for setting it.

Really? Do GS's come with these too?? I really wish I had one for the long trips I keep taking...
If you can, any more detail as to the location? Is it blantantly easy to find, hard to miss?

Sorry to seem off topic Paul, this will just take a few seconds...

Every single RS can be different. Mitsu allowed you to add any option you wanted and keep in mind the cars are already 10 years old so previous owners may have added what they wanted.

Mine came with cruise from the factory, PW, PDL, NO power mirrors, Sunroof, low spoiler and NO fogs.

Typical run of the mill RS had NO:
Fogs
power antenna
painted door handles
painted mirrors
side skirts.

The rest is subject to change.

Sunroof was an option as well.

I have the brochure for my 97 and one for a 99.

The base model isnt listed but they did exist.

Here are tips or addind options:
1. Many/most RS's had the dash wiring to add the power doors. In our cars the doors have thier own harness. You can acquire that harness and plug it in inside the door jamb and have the power to add power doors. Base model Talons did not have this wiring in the dash so you would have to add it from the fuse box.

2. Drum to disc conversion is pretty easy and many junkyard will sell the conversion. Mitsubishigraveyard.com is one.

3. Adding a sunroof....forget it, you will have to go aftermarket

4. Adding Tach when the base model didnt have one. Just plug in the new cluster and the tach will work. I have done this.

5. Adding cruise control I have not yet explored

6. Adding side skirts, factory or aftermarket can be done just fine.

And to add to a question above:

The GSX spyder did exist from the factory. There wer eonly something like 300 cars made before mitsu bailed on the idea and those cars are worth more than you want to know. There is a guy that pops up on ebay every so often that owns like 8 of them. He sells them for 45k as he gets new toys.

You have to be careful because there are so many conversions out there.
Terry

Great info, Terry. I had no idea that there was a Spyder GSX either. And Blitz, it is blatantly obvious. Can't miss.

Got my 95' RS for $1,800... talked him down from $2,200.

cd player, sunroof, spoiler, seperated back seats, and runs good ;)

If you look around and wait for the car to come to you, you will always get a better deal. Dont rush into buying a car.

Bullet is right. The cruise button is on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash towards the top. Cant miss it. If its not there, you dont have it.

Oh, and I picked my 97 GS up fully loaded(leather included) for $4000 with 50,000 miles.

Not correct, sorry. :nono:
It's much easier to make a Spyder into AWD, but the factory never did it.

HE LIVES! OH HAPPY DAY! :rocks:

EDIT:
No doubt you're hearing a lot of that, these days, sir. It's good to see you back. Sincerely.

I spoke with the individual in email and he hadthe documentation available online. If it was a forgery it was pretty close to being authentic.

What part of the assembly line did you work on?

You better back that up with some facts. As of now I'm calling BS.

Wow, was on vacation and just noticed my post got beat to hell. Anyway that was a typo I am not aware of any GSX spyders either. I meant to say gsx and GS-t spyders were as high as 30,000 sorry for the mis-informative post. I am curious after terrys post though to this guy selling so called factory GSX spyders.

With my present knowledge of the various trims and their amenities, I agree with you completly with everything except about the cruise control. My RS has cruise control as well as the factory tweeters on the dash by the windshield.
I'd like to also include the manual seats for the RS model. I'm about 99% sure that they don't have power seats for our RS's.

I know mine didn't come with power seats, however, if I remember correctly there is a wiring harness under the seat already for them so I would think you could probably get a set of seats and plug them in and be ready to go. I could be very wrong though, LOL
