if your still looking for a good car, i dont know how far your willing to drive but theres a 99 gs special eddition thats modded prettty good, modded up star turbo kit with many extras, and all he wants is 4800 maybe even cheaper thats just his asking price, i tried to get him to part it out to me but to no evail:toobad:

I know I probably shouldn't be adding anything to this old post, but I just feel I have to because I own a 96 eclipse base model...the title says eclipse nothing more. these models came with a/c and power steering, that's about it. I too didn't have a tach when i bought it, but salvages one out of a junked eclipse and "plug and play"-ed so to speak. my car also started with black door handles and 14 inch steelies, there is no power anything or any spoiler. feel free to look if you want at my pics and I can post more if you desire...I might even be able to find some of my car when I first had gotten it. The base model was only made in the 95-96 years, this is noted by autotrader.com if you go to compare used cars, the only years they list base model eclipses are in 95 and 96. the only sure difference as far as I know between the rs and the base is the little sticker on the back right side of the deck lid that says rs, and maybe the spoiler

I recently bought a '96 :dsm: eclipse RS. It has a moonroof (sunroof that doesn't slide back), rear spoiler, matching color side mirrors, no tach, no CC, and no power options. I just got it last week so I haven't tried folding the backseat down.

But it has a new engine swap and clutch, blitz body kit, greddy cat-back 3" exhaust, 18" enkei rims and a custom cold air-intake (not sure on specs). It runs great, the body only has 95k on it, and only cost me $3,000. I love it! My first DSM.:rocks:
(Sorry, I'm excited, I wanted to brag. :coy: )

Actually, the difference between a sunroof and a moon roof lays in what material it's made of. Sunroofs were all metal pieces that would slide back, and open the cabin up to the outside (you don't see too many of these anymore). Moonroofs are jusy like roof windows; glass pieces that may or may not slide back.

Werd. I've got one that slides back, forth, up , down, left , right... Sometime when I push the button hard enough it ejects to hit the a**hole behind me... ROFL

It's a little late, but.......
I got a 95 RS for $900, of course the owner thought the engine was messed up :)
I later found it was just the radiator,ha.
Anyways, the RS isn't the best, it's okay. Mine came with a sunroof, rolling windows, a tach, etc. so it's not quite up-to-date. For my first car, it just what I need. I have heard from somewhere, that the 420A actually has more potential than the 4G63. But, I have not yet came to a conclusion on that one. I wanted a 98 GS-T, manual of course, but I saved money by buying the lesser of the evils :)
