My belt tensioner pulley is going out and makes a terrible squeak during start but once I rev a little bit it goes away, just giving you a picture of whats wrong with re car at the moment.

When I am driving my car it will naturally idle at 2300 to 2500 toms but when I rev the engine a little hard in neutral it will go back down to a normal idle speed. what I'm asking is, could the tensioner pulley be causing this or could it be a different problem. it will continuously do it while driving but like I said if I rev hard enough it goes back down.

and the idle is high enough to drag the car without having my foot on the gas. that's another thing.
any help?

Had the same.problem with my n/t. It was the egr valve. Also chec all of your electrical connections.make dure everything is plugged in right. Also replace.your belt when you have a chance

I was really thinking it could be my belt, relating to my tensioner pulley.
If I was to start checking electrical, what should be checked first in your opinion??

The plug to your coil had.that happen once to me also. If you press the gas do your lights brighten?

Pretty sure its egr valve. I would sit at stop lights revving the.engine to get the rpms to come down pretty embarrassing.

nope not at all.

got any links or prices on how to fix the egr valve?

auto-merge :p

any links or prices on how to fix or where to get replacement equipment on the egr valve? thanks for your help btw.

Go to local part store they should have them. Not to expensive if I could remember correctly. you could buy a chiltons or haynes manual for our cars there also for like $20 and it spill walk you through how to take it off.its not to hard.

Feel.free to pm me of you need more help

It sounds like your throttle cable is sticking. You can check it by taking your car for a drive. Whenever the car starts to act up put the car in neutral and keep your foot off the gas pedal. If the RPMs go up on their own then your throttle cable or throttle body is sticking. Good luck!

Could be a mis adjusted throttle cable, Vacuum leak or leak anywhere between the head and the maf. Also the best thing to do to the egr valve it buying a block off plate in my opinion! Unless you have harsh emissions testing in your area.
