i think i heard that the stock one is off by 50-100rpm at redline. thats pretty dam perfect if you ask me, seeing that so many of us need to redline our cars to win.
 
The stock tach redline is 500 RPMs short of where the actual rev-limiter kicks in. If you buy new indiglo or any kind of gauges they usually have the redline problem corrected.
