I have a 98RS, and I've noticed when its cold outside the car takes takes about 20-30 seconds to start. I don't know what this is exactly, could it be the Fuel Pump, or the Fuel Pump Regulator? It does it whether the tank is full or not. And doesn't have a rough start when the car has been warmed up.

60 degree is cold dude, it does it in 80 degree here if I don't park in the sun, if u get dsmlink=ecmlink, they have a cold start mangement system that is spefically for our cars.

Here it gets -20 degrees (F) and I never have any problems starting my car. 60 degrees is super warm. I also have the higher altatude than you do. So yes there is something going on with your car.

Check your oil pressure, batteries CCA rating, and your starters ground.

That pict is not a 420A setup, but a 4G63 setup which doesn't match along the temp sensor is the one with the green connector. The upper one that has no wires going to it controls the AC.

His is right below the radiator hose in the middle with the one connector ...

I assume you checked the battery. I had a problem similar to this, when It was cold I had to jump it off everytime and when it was warm it would take a while for it to actually turn over. Mine was just the battery. Turned out the previous owner put in a battery that did not have enough cold cranking power.

Lol 60 degrees is cold? Well I don't have a turbo DSM, do they have anything like that for 420a?
420's have MS (Megasquirt) which is a really good upgrade IMO. I don't know if it has cold start assist tho, i'll have to get back to you then.

^ +10 ... usually the case of hard starts when outside temps go down.

When they go bad, the ECU thinks it's still in the 80's outside.
420's must be differant then, because when my coolant sensor went it just ran horribly rich. Which if his did go and acts the same as mine did, then it shouldn't affect his cold start, just his warm start up. But that IF his is going and IF when it goes it acts the same as mine.

How do I find this, and check/change it. 420a

It's connected right on the thermo housing. Follow your top radiator hose to the engine head. Right under it there should be 2 clips. The top one is your coolant sensor. I believe mine was $27 brand new from carquest.

I am having th same problem. Test the coolant sensor by unplugging it, the engine will fire but run weirdly if it is the sensor. Then I think it may be the fuel filter or fuel pressure reg. To test to see if it is your fuel pressure reg, disconnect the vent line from the regulator, if it drips fuel, its bad. If it doesnt, turn the key on, and if fuel comes out of the line, its bad. After that, check the fuel rail for pressure while key is on. Its like chasing a dragon that don wanna be caught.

Now what I didnt know is, n/t eclipses are famous for hard starts? This is common and people just take it as the way it is?
jeez.:(
