Hey all -

I just fixed a few issues in my 2G 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS, including the Master Cylinder and the coolant temperature sensor. After replacing them (and the car sitting without running for ~2 months) I started the car up and it is very sluggish to start. Once it starts, it revs up to 2k rpms and slowly lowers to ~1k after about 5 mins in idle.

I'm wondering if either of the repairs could impact the startup, or if it is likely a battery issue. TIA!

Matt

In the 98-99 models the black box ecu cars; they have a weird idle after the battery is unhooked. The car basically takes a while to calibrate the idle air control valve and set basic idle. I can remember the idle mis-behaving and having weird take off when letting of the clutch for the first few minutes after a hard battery off reset. After warming up and driving around the block a few times it would be back to normal though

Also yes your battery being weak most likely caused the hard start
