Hey all im pulling my hair out on this one.
i have v3 light on a 90 ecu in a 93 tsi. the car ran fine after i replaced the iac using another stock 90 ecu. i installed the link ecu and think i have all the settings right for my setup. im using an LC-1 wb for the front o2 and set Narrow band.

my issues are the idle is horrable and barely runs. but if i hit the throttle it smooths out and revs fine. also my o2 voltage starts off at .20 and after about a min jumps to .80 and stays untill i restart the car.
i have completed about 10 free air calibrations and swapped the sensors for new ones i have 3 times and i have swaped out the lc-1 controller for a new one. with no change. i have all my grounds installed on one lug to the body. made sure it was contacting bare mettle. when i look at the wb reading using logworks it shows about 15. to 18.afr at idle and nothing in link.
i hope i just have my settings messed up and someone can help.

well i did notice i didn't rename my lc-1 in the setup for simulate narrow band. so i will change that. but im not sure if that's going to fix all my problems.

update Small update.
found that the o2 sensor wire was chafed and shorted out. replaced wire from ecu to o2 sensor. tested again and o2 seems to be working now.
i may have multiple issues. the car still cycles and the maf raw seems high for just idle when it actualy does idle. heres another log

What injectors and maf are you running? and when you say that your O2 sensor harness is chafed, are you talking about the wideband harness or the stock o2? your tps needs to be adjusted as well.
 
well i have the biss screw all the way in and was able to get a better log. idles ton's better:) but i may have a vac/boost leak. i have to adjust Mafcomp very low for it to get close to .24-.25 airflow. if anyone can chime in with any ideas that would be great.:)

I'd just start out with BLT... set your base timing and readjust your Idle maybe test you ISC motor?... Looks like you still have an Idle surge?

Also your pulling way to much fuel out at Idle an it's ATM adding the fuel right back...

i will adjust my tps again:) ty i thought it was fine but i guess it lost calibration.
im running stock 1g maf,stock injectors and the factory wiring harness was chafed due to improper routing. ty for the advice:)
 
Actually i only read the first log, and the tps was out of adjustment. in the second log the tps looks alot better. also check the base timing, it looks a little low .
 
well BLT complete!!! im glad im not welding ships together because they would sink if i did. LOL found about 2-4 pinholes in each section i tig welded together:( chock this one up to a learning experience.:) after i re weld everything on my intercooler piping i will mess with link and see what i get:).
i do need to figure out the timing as well. i have 2g pistons in my 6 bolt and dont want to run the 1g ign timing. if anyone has a good starter timing table let me know. (i understand that each motor is different and will require fine tuning on my part to fully dial it in)

If you have a password to ecm link you could download an evo timing map. i'm definetly looking into it . i'm also running 2g pistons on 1g rods, and the 1g factorytiming map is pretty aggresive. i'll see if i can find you a link to it.


you need ecm link software to view the logs
 
Ok replaced the throttle body seals and it's running alot better. The isc valve tests within the resistance range. I will post a log tonight. my maf comp settings are alittle lower then they were befor but still not where I think they should be. But I am able to get the airflowperrev down to .24-.27 but not steady.
 
Sweet thanks I will use the map after I finish up on the pipes. I also found my TB seals are bad. Replacing them as well:)

You don't actually want to use that DA file,

Just want to copy an paste the timing an Fuel maps to yours from it...you could actually pull a bit more fuel from OpenloopMaxOct in the areas that are 10.1ish I'd go to around 10.8 to start...

Also FYI you have the full version of ECmlink:thumb:
 
Well sweet:) thx for the info ha ha. I guess they gave me the full version when I ordered light:) I will post a log very soon I've just been working like crazy:) running a auto shop you have to work when the works there ha ha
 
It looks like you could drop the 50 and 100 hertz airflow sliders a bit till you get the air flow per rev to hover at .25 and readjust the dead time if needed . the closer to zero you get the better but plus or minus 5 percent is acceptable. other than that it looks good to my eye.
 
thanks ya i will mess with that tomorow. sadly that was the only way it wouldnt cycle lower it would start cycling and the o2 would not cycle. i will be doing alot more reading up on the adjustments this weekend:) i have lots of parts i want to install but im not doing anything untill this is squared away and i have a better understanding.
 
Looking at your DA an ECM settings I'm Not understanding the reasoning behind some of what you are doing... Your adding deadtime in the fuel tab But pulling DT in DA @ 9 & 12 volts... Along with some other things you changed.
 
ok so a very late update on the car.
heres a list of things i found wrong.
timing belt was defective and stripped the belt.
removed the head and found no valves were bent!! wahoo!!!
reinstalled the head and found the manifold to turbo surface was warped so i resurfaced that and made a copper gasket for the turbo. (reason o2 was not cycling) reading lean all the time.
after installing the belt the right way. i found that the cam sensor was off. re timed the car and found all is working the way it should:) runs at .25-.27 and idles fine. also the o2 cycles great:) (so the intake cam gear was one tooth off) i dont know how i installed it wrong the first time but i must have been smoking something ha ha
