ok i just re built my motor about 2 mounths ago been running great!! drove it home from work today ran fine. when i got home i changed a water line the the one on the bottom of the throtttle body started it up to see if it still leaked, and it was idiling like crap drove it around the block and the rpm's took forever to rise checked the plugs checked the turbo looked for vacume leaks, and nothing. while it was running i pulled off the mafs plug and the rpm rose a lil bit kinda smoothed out a little,pluged it back in and back to a rough idle...im stumped on this one
 
Have you tried a boost leak test? I had a vacuum line split once that caused the car to run like shit and I couldn't see it because without boost or vacuum the line looked solid. Once I did a boost leak test I found it and replaced it and the car ran just fine. Before I fixed it I struggled to get the car running and keep it that way.
 
ok guy done some more work on it today. changed the fule filter ### it was pretty cloged, dident make a difference. checked the fuel pump its working, the reason why i checked is because its running lean, and i dont think its the o2 because.if it was that then it would cause it to run rich wouldent it?..but i will check for a boost leak tomarrow...now the car has a real hard time idleing, wants to die evertime, but when i un plug the maf it will idle on its own, and not die, im getting a maf at the junk yard tomarrow....hope it works!! im sick of this crap.
 
checked the codes.. the only thing it pulled was coolent temp sen..... i been pulling that code since i bought the car so i kno that has nothing to do with it, still havent got home from work to put the other maf on i just wish i knew it is a working maf.. i could be replacing a bad maf with another bad one any one live in the jacksonville area with a 1st gen?
 
Checked your fuel lines and injectors,? If your fuel filter was clogged maybe your lines or injectors are too.
 
ok switched the maf..dident work!!... i dont know guys, im over here pulling my hair out!!!! checked for boost leak none....there is no way it jumped timing, brand new belt tight at hell....like i said the only time it idles is when i unplug the maf...i dont kno yall, im about to sell this damn car!!!... could it be the cas?
