Hey everyone, I have a 90 talon and I have looked through the forums and the No start thread with little luck.the problem started when I did a hard pull and my alternator went out. Since then my car idles fine on a cold start but begins to bog down really slowly. Sometimes it doesn't bog down at all.

Lately it has decided not to start without being jumped. When jumped it starts without hesitation but without a jump, if i try to turn it on, it will just click and soon after the clicking will stop as well.him and it will just go dead.

The battery is fully charged and the alternator is fine. i even tried with a second battery but nothing changed.I have changed the ground wire and tested to coil pack which is working fine.

Mod list:
blitz bov
Gmail made with ecmlink wire
Fmic
Small 16g
Ecmlink v3
650cc fic injectos

Help!

Have you checked your alternator fuse? If that went bad you would think you have a bad alternator and the batteries wouldn't be charging/dying. Check the fuse under the hood to see if it's good or not. As the battery died your idle will suck and crap out because you aren't recharging our electrical system.

Im thinking of redoing my grounds some time tomorrow.

My alternator fuse seems okay as well.

I pulled some logs, the "Bad Idle" log is a log of the Talon connected to another car with jumper cables. The other logs are it not starting/stalling out without the help of another car.

After it stalls the battery voltage drops to ~10V, I will turn the key once to hear the starter click but it will not start, and the second time i try turning the key the car will not respond. It seems as though the battery is maintaining only 10V after a stall, but im sure the alternator is working fine as the car shows proper voltage under load while the car is on.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Any ideas?

From my experience the idling like this was fixed with just a simple look through your piping. Make sure you do not have any massive air leaks thorough all of the intercooler piping and intake piping. Another option would be to make sure your 02 sensor isn't shitting out on you. I did all of these steps then did a "grounding" overhaul on the engine and the problem went away. I am not an expert on starters but, could this also be the signs of this starting to die?

Im getting my ecu tested. Seems my maf was giving me crazy numbers and I changed it and the new one was also being strange. After that I plan to get a new o2 sensor and a ground overhaul as well. I'll keep the thread updated as I proceed. Thanks !
