I just purchased my first official DSM, it definitely isn’t perfect. The first thing I want to address is the idle issue, the rpms aren’t steady at idle and seemed to have gotten worse the warmer the car got but the car ate good once going. The car is missing the rear 02 sensor, not sure if that could be causing it or the coil pack, like I said it’s my first official DSM and I'm learning.

It’s a 1997 Eclipse Spyder GST. It’s black with the tan interior, stock suspension. Dude I got it from said he placed the spark plugs and wires but not the coil pack. It has some other little mods like a cold air intake nothing crazy though, stock BOV leaks a little heard that’s a problem on all of these cars though.

Congrats, No quick answers based on that.

Since it's new to you the first step is to check out all the basics. Boost leak test, pull the plugs and make sure they are gapped correctly, check the compression while you're checking the plugs, pull the wires and make sure they are going to the right places and that none of the coil towers are corroded.

Measure the ISC coils and make sure it's not a old style metal version. Replace with the newer black plastic version if it is.

Clean the TB and replace the PCV and change the oil.

Unless you have proof that the timing belt was done in the past year plan on doing it before you start driving the car.
