Rotor Hub Diameter > Hub Diameter?

I have been chasing a clunk for a while now and decided to pull the calipers and inspect the pins.

Upon disassembly I noticed that the outer ring on the rotor (unworn part) was not even around the circumference. I grabbed the rotor and could move it up and down on the hub (that's not good).

The rotor hub diameter specs out at 69mm, which from all the usual parts places this is listed as standard spec for the AWD front rotor. However, my hubs measure 67mm. Obviously you don't want an off-center rotor and the only way I can see to achieve that is to use a centering ring or a correctly sized rotor, but I can't find any rotors with a 67mm hub diameter.

Any ideas on the fix here?

I would not even consider a ring. I would get rotors designed for the car. Rotors absolutely must be hub-centric.

I have no idea why you can't find rotors with a 67.1 centerbore. That's the hub size for all Mitsus for many, many years.

Are you sure?.
I have 68mm rotors on my gsx and they barely fit in there, also, my gst has 69mm hubs, My 68mm rotors will not fit my gst hubs (69mm).:hmm:

Thanks guys. The problem I'm finding is all the part #s come up as 69mm being standard. Obviously in this case it is not.
 
It's been so long since I looked at a DSM, I could be wrong on this. Is it a two-step hub? My Evo has a straight hub, so the rotor's centerbore is the same as the OE wheel. Maybe that's the way DSM are/were.

Thanks. Apparently I have the smaller diameter hubs, which doesn't really make sense for a '97 if the change was in '93. I really wish I would have saved the previous rotors that had the right diameter bore. I went to a local parts store and looked at different rotors and they all have the 69mm hub.

I also pulled a new hub assembly, which has a stepped bore (67mm outter 69mm inner). I guess an option would be to replace the hub assemblies along with new rotors (ouch). I don't expect I will have much luck finding an aftermarket 67mm rotor.

99+ hubs have a different profile for the centre raised portion, and <99 rotors will not fit. My guess is you have <99 hubs with 99+ rotors ?

Thanks, ACM. From what I can find I just have a set of odd-ball hubs, the correct rotor size is 69mm. I talked to a Chrysler dealership and they didn't even show a rotor part number for my VIN (they could look it up by year though).

I replaced the hubs, knuckles, tie-rod ends, and lateral control arms last night and should have it back together tonight. The new hubs have the 67mm wheel pilot and 69mm rotor hubs. So, my simple rotor replacement turned into a new front suspension. :talon:
