Roll Cage installation

This was the 2nd Mild Steel cage that I've done. Although I've put a few mild steel roll bars in.

There are 3 of us working on 2 Chromoly RWD drag cars in the shop right now, 1 is a RWD 1g, the other is a RWD Evo 8. There is a lot more extensive work that needs to be done.
Here is the gallery for those if interested. www.eclipserwd.com/gallery

I know this thread is pretty old but I have a question. I noticed when you installed the rear crossbar on the rear strut towers, you cut the ends off the factory crossmember that runs along the floorboard and then up the towers. Does that rear crossbar take the place of the crossmember? Can you remove what's left of the crossmember off the floorboard or does it still serve some sort of structural purpose?

Kinda bringing this thread back but I just came across this doing a search and this was once my car before doug bought it from me and I bought it back from him after the cage install.

I don't like how the cage is run through the dash and I was hoping people would have some pictures of how they did theirs. I bought the car back several years ago but it's just been sitting because I lost interest ... I plan to get back into it starting this weekend. I'm thinking I may just pull the windshield and replace the dash with a different dash and run the bars through and reweld it all so there are no slits or whatever you want to call them showing and then reinstall the windshield. Is there enough room to do this or what are other people's solutions? ( Something like what thegchild04 posted ) I agree that it does look hacked the way it sits....

Don't expect Jake to respond.

He's screwed over far too many members, including myself, to show up here again.

Your best bet, if you're looking for roll cage pictures and opinions, is to start a new thread.

Wow, sad to hear that. When I sold my car it was in very good condition running high 11s untuned on pump gas with a not even close to perfect launch, no check engine light or drievability issues. After I bought it back ( only a few k miles later ) the car was f'ed mainly because of the cage install. The airbag light was on, ( something wasnt plugged in  ) passenger door doesn't close properly and sags, sunroof doesn't work, windows weren't lined up right, car ran like complete crap ( damaged ecu harness from cage install ) and much more. All this because of a simple cage install. I plan to redo this guy's screw up but the only thing I need is ideas on running it through the dash. Thanks for the reponses regarding jake, I'll be sure to advise everyone to stay clear of him if they don't already know. I'm just now getting back into these cars ... I've been out of the loop for a while.

no, most of it should be done with an actual welder,
a lot of people use wirefeed welders because its easier

thats cool
really sweet
