calgary,
hey guys it has been about 3 weeks since ive posted here last... Some one told me that the sound im hearing is the rod bearin and the way he said it he sounded pretty certain...so i pulled of my oil pan and checked all the bearing and they seem to be fine...my dad said that he saw minor metal shaving at the bottom of that pan when he took it off...ive done a compression test and its all up to standards so i think the heads are fine...this problem occured when i reved it to about 6-7000 rpms every gear just because im stupid but now i know better...so if any one thinks they know what it might be give me a shout...here's the vid. incase some havnt seen it yet.:talon:

Check the balance shaft bearings. They can cause a knocking sound and leave metal shavings in the pan.

I have a 93 talon with 7 bolts engine and i have a knoking noise coming from my engine like main bearing or conecting rod bearing. I check and i have crankwall 0.027 inch. I dont tell you is that but mine doing the same noise.

is yours burning blue smoke because mine is and its think... would the balance shaft bearings do that if they were to knock?

Ya mine is burning some oil but the oil coming from my intercooler. Now i put a can and i need to clean my intercooler. But like GVR4592 says, you better check your balance shaft bearing first maybe its just that. Give us some news!

Blue smoke usually means oil is getting into the combustion chamber, bad piston rings, bad valve stem seals, failing turbo, pvc system not working, etc. The balance shafts wouldn't cause the engine to smoke.

The knocking noise only occurs after my car has warmed up...when i turn it on, when its cold and put it into drive the knock isnt that bad but after the car warms up then u can really start to hear the knock

I have the same problem on my 98 Rs and the crappy thing is the motor only has 17k on it and happened 1 week before i was to put it in the auto trader so now i am asking 4500.00 for it as is but if i can fix it i can try to get my original asking price how much would a job like a rod bearing cost?
