ok. i have this loud ass knock in my motor now from over revving apparently. i know i need to replace a rod bearing now. i have searched this site and cant find how to do this through the oil pan. can anyone help?

Drain the oil, remove the downpipe, drop the pan, see which rod feels loose, remove the cap, hope the crank isn't scored, replace the bearing. Reinstallation in a reverse order of the above steps.

Takes me longer to get my tools out.

It is that easy. I regasketed the oil pan in about 40 minutes the other day/ Hardest part was cleaning the oil pan and block surface followed by trying to get the damn gasket to line up properly.

You should be able to easily access the caps with the oil pan dropped.
