2G Rod and piston combo for 6-bolt swap?

Ok, so I am going to do the 6 bolt swap into my 97 eclipse. I already have the engine and head worked out. The engine was bought a off a friend that had it cleaned, honed, and bored .030 over. The only thing is he is taking his piston and rods out of it because he has way too much money in them. So I was thinking of doing a 1g rods and some aftermarket pistons. Does the 1g rods connect fine up to Ross/Wiseco pistons that already been .030 over and have a 8:5:1 ratio? Or does the rods have to be machined to fit? I am on a budget because I am still in college, and I don't have enough to buy aftermarket rods.

If you concider what a machine shop charges to mount press fit rods and pistons (80.00 to 120.00 for four). You might want to save a little more now, and buy a set of Eagle Hbeams on e-bay for about 300 or 400.00 . great rod bolts, super strong, and full floating pins to boot! ever see the wear on a press fit pin from an engine making any power what so ever? eekkk:barf: Hmmm.. option option options....
 
Thanks For your input I think I will save a little bit more money if its going to cost more to get them press fitted.
 
Well I would suggest Ross/Pauter setup, but it doesn't look like you will need that much beef in there. Go with Ross/Eagle or Weisco/Eagle,

Just a low dollar import space shuttle. I think Dr.ZO6 will win since I will never see full boost.

Here is what will be the best setup for the money. Buy you a set of weisco 8.5-1 forged pistons, usually around 400 bucks, sometimes a little more. Get them for a 6 bolt, the rod won't need any work to fit the pistons on, and they are only 1 bucks more than the 2g piston on 1g rod setup. Next you need to get some arp rod bolts for the rods, have the rod bolts instaled, and have the big end of the rods rebuilt. After that, have your machinist balance the rods, and mount the forged pistons. This can all be done for less than 550, and will be good to like 450-500 horses. So why spend the extra 250 dollors, yes if you plan on making over 500 horses, than get the eagles but if not, than just use the 1g rods.

i am going to be using 2g pistons on stock 1g 6bolt rods....
( Supposably there havent been any major problems doin this, as long as its done
right I take, (which I cant afford any problems) and that the 6bolt rods have been proven to hold up in high hp situations. )
any more info or experienced tuners who have done this feel free to input any info.
 
You can find eagle rods for $300
I like Eagle rods and Magnus pistons.

You can do the 6bolt rod with 2g piston but its not really worth the time and money imo.
Both 1g and 2g motors have made well over 400hp assembled just the way they are.
If you are going to change the internals just save up and do it right once and be done with it.

Are you saying that because theres durability issues or something?
Or because its not a worthy power gain from doing it?

My perdicament is that I dont have much money and Ive been doing a 6bolt rebuild up
and swap and Im running out of time because I have to have all this done before school (college)starts back up and my funds are limited and ive already spent so much on rebuilding the engine.... I didnt want to stick with the 7:8:1 compression in the 1g and the 6bolts 1g pistons were kind of abused and damaged, so I need some quick, cheap replacements so I opted for some decent looking used 2g pistons that I got cheap on the classifieds, and the 8:5:1 compression sounded much better to me since I wont be running to much over 20lbs of boost anyways so every little hp counts in my book...
I know theres like a 4% increase in power with compression as of according to dsm wiseman Andy, so I figured a cheap and easy deal.

Your right if I had more money i would have gotten some higher performance rod and pistons combos but I wouldve been out of another 4 to 6 hundred bucks so this seemed like the next best option for me considering I might as well up the compression instead of buying some new/ or used 1g pistons..... Any opposition, or different opinions to that?
