Like the title says, anybody have any reccomendations for rim shops in the bay area? Specifically on the SF peninsula? I will travel to the east bay, but i prefer this side of the bay.

My tires are almost done, and my mis matching stock rims are all thrashed and curbed in one spot or another, so i dont really want to put tires back on these crappy rims, so i figured id finally put some rims on the talon, and some good tires to match.

Ive been looking on craigslist and ive seen a few rims that im interested in, but not all of them are the right size/color/style for me.

Im not looking for volks or any real expensive rims because i daily drive this car in the city and hit potholes all day and rub curbs sometimes when im not paying attention to parking and all that. I just want a fresh set of rims that i can thrash and not really care about, but still look good enough for me to justify paying for them. Im not looking for stock rims either, unless you have the chrome 2g gst wheels and want to sell em (pm me!)

Ive seen these adr's a few times on craigslist and i think they would look good on my 1g (sorry still on the black/polished lip hype over here)
i found em on ebay for you guys to check out, wrong size, same rim

So, if anyone has deals, or have had success with inexpensive rims (<$400 a set) locally, drop me a name/website/phone number. Im also interested in a good price on some nice tires (bfg kdw's, kdw 2's, or falken rt-615's) I'm probably going to spend more on the tires than on the rims.

machiii in SF (http://www.machiii.net/) gave me a pretty good deal on my gram lights a few years ago. Somehow I managed to get out of paying sales tax. I think it was because they were offering free shipping at the time I placed the order, but since I went and picked them up I got a better deal. See what they have to offer.

haha, yeah im waiting for him to come in here and give his usual "buy the most expensive thing ever... do it once do it right!" then tell me that FFTEC can put on the rims if i dont know how to......

I have 4 choices!!!
1. Drive the car as it is and my right front tire will blow out soon
2. put tires on the bent up stock rims that i dont know how they hold air and i'll be running some curbed up janky rims with nice tires that will buldge on the sidewalls since they are ALL curbed
3. Get the $600 package, run nice looking cheap rims with cheap tires
4. Get the rims for $380 and some decent or good tires for an additional $300-$450

Im honestly trying to do this for under $700. I found some nitto neogen tires on ebay...set of 4 for $300 shipped. that might be my best route. rims for $380 and tires for $300, then i can put the tires on and balance them at school, or get em done at my friends shop.

I want cheap rims because i can almost guarantee that i'll romp em. Either into a curb or slide it against the curb when im parking. I dont want to f up some $1000 rims like that b/c i know it will happen. If it happens to some $400 rims i wont care as much

Edit* thanks module unknown... you posted as i was typing my response... i'll definately check em out.

I told you! Back when I was getting rid of the Talon to take the wheels off of it. They were in great shape and still had a good amount of tire left.

if youre going to get cheap wheels, at least get rotas. i know the vendor that supplies rota wehels for the subaru community, so if you need a set let me know. i also believe that he can do a wheel and tire package for you

I wouldn't mind some 16" black Slipstreams, your buddy have any of those Nat?

what size/color/style wheel and tire size are you looking for?

17x whatever (at least 7") rota slipstream. I'll only do the black/polished lip. I dont like any of the other ones.

Tires... something better than stock! That are rated better than stock. And arent nankang ns1 or whatever H rated tires that guy was trying to give me....
What tires can he offer? Im looking for some high performace all seasons

Sorry kahfae!!! I should have got the damn rims! I already have a shitty set in my backyard, i could have gotten rid of those and replaced them with your good set.

Edit*** i just realized i might not be able to do this until like the end of Sept. In the next 3 weeks i have a hunting trip to go on, and my G/F's bday... both expensive events. But my credit card is almost payed off now so i have room to work with! haha

you mentioned that you are in the city...well shit..if you go and buy those cheap ass wheels...they will be cast and heavy as hell. using cheaper materials so manufacture the wheels will make them easier to bend.

talk to nat about wheels. he can hook you up with some rotas. at least get a good offset...no ### sunken in shit. and please please please don't buy POS tires...i'll let you off with cheap wheels if you get good tires. get some falkens...they're cheap. don't get any H rated tires. nankangs are garbage.

haha yeah when i saw the nankangs i knew they werent going to happen. Rt615's or kdw's man! Ive always planned on paying more for my tires than my rims. Whats a proper offset for like a 17x7.5 on a 1g?

the falkens are cheaper...and grip better than the kdw. if you want bfg...go with the kd.

don't get a 17x7.5...go wider. at least 17x8.5 with +38 or +40. don't go higher

There was this place called Function.Go that kept on advertising a lot of nice looking wheels for cheap on craigslist sometime ago. I believe they were in Milpitas, and you have to email/call them. They had some nice bronze 17x7 wheels for $300. A lot of other ones for a little bit more. A friend told me they ARE legit, but they dont seem to have anymore ads on craigslist. I wish I had their info, give you another option.

rota makes the slipstream in 17x8.5 +35 in royal black( black with polished lip). and im sure he may be able to do a packaged buy for you with falken rt615's. i can tell you though that the wheels alone will cost more than 400 bucks a set right now =X. its up to you though, but 400 bucks cant buy you shit for a decent set of wheels

mahesh, i can help you get some 16" slipstreams. i BELIEVE they make a set in 16x8+45 in flat black. ill try to get pricing on them soon

Im not doing track events or road racing or even much twistee driving, so i dont really need that wide of a rim, i know you say why not? But why?
If i just daily drive it and go hit infineon every once in a while i dont really need that much rim.

Do 8.5's fit nicely in a 1g, or do the stick out like a lowrider. This car is my daily driver and i drive like an asshole and hit potholes all day, i dont want to put a friend in my car and hit a bump and have my damn tires rub the fenders and cut my tires or f up my fender.

Yeah i know good rims will cost more than $400, thats what i had to work with at the moment, not really anymore since im going hunting and have my g/f's b-day in september.

I am still very interested in a price though because i DO need rims/tires very soon.
How much for the slipstreams with/without the tires?
DO they have slipstreams in 17" that are less than 8.5" wide and are cheaper than the 8.5" width?

Yeah I'm also looking into some wheels sometime down the road. I just got some new Kumho tires (225/50/16) so I just want some wheels to go with them. I was thinking about getting just some slipstreams in 16x8 +40 or +45, I think that would look pretty clean and not stick out too far.

Isn't the rota vendor for subie's name subydude??

see, NORMAL PEOPLE don't like that stretched look. I dunno if you saw that 2g with like 18 x9.5's with 225's (I think it was on talk) but it looked like SHIT. I couldn't believe someone was stupid enough to buy that crap and put such skinny rubber on it. 235's are perfect for a 8 inch wide wheel. I'm personally considering 245's but only because I want as much rubber as I can stuff in there and don't really care too much about looks. Also, the sidewalls buldging out will be less noticeable than if they were streched in.

anyone who isn't in the know, me and danny are running the same wheels now, LOL

evo enkei's FTW!!

Ha, i still gotta buy an exhaust and some brake pads/ rotors before i can get tires for those rims. should only be a little over a month, hopefully before the "infineon wed night 08" thread opens up!

yeah, I have to do something about the whole lack of motor thing, fuel cell not being properly mounted thing, body panels not matching in color, and a fe othr "minor" projects before I'll be posting anything worth while in that thread, LOL

not like we ever manage to get the whole group up there anyways, our shit is always broken anyways.
