I am wondering what is different from the older lifters. I assume the hole is bigger. Is there any thing else? I ask because I have the typical lifter tick in my 93 TSI AWD and its starting to make me crazy!! I was thinking of pulling them out and opening the the holes to whatever the size is on the newer lifters. Are there any reasons that I shouldn't do this? Can anyone tell me the hole size in the newer lifters? I'm hoping this could solve my tick problem without having to buy new lifters. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

well I called up SBR one day and Cragger said the Topline revised lifters had a bigger oiling hole, and a new special "chamber" designed so it wont tick and almost will never go hard and seize up like the old lifters.

If anyone gets a set of these and wouldn't mind checking the hole size and taking a few pics of the "special chamber" before installing them I would be grateful. I work in a machine shop so I have access to all the machines I need to make the alterations to my stock lifters. If I can do this it would save me the $140 the new lifters cost. Then I can buy a Palm to go with the cable I just picked up and start datalogging!

Cool....yeah I figure that the chamber must be some sort of undercut where the two holes intersect. I just saw some on ebay that said the hole was 3mm(.118). I am assuming based on the looks in the pics that these parts are hard.....I'll probably Rockwell test one once I get them out of the car.
