Ill put it simply NO NO NO NO NO NO. I have yet to se an eclipse with after market tailights that looked good to me. But on the other hand its your car and you like them go for it, thats the point in modifying cars to make them what you like. If you like them go for it. (I might make fun of you if I see you though :) ) J/K

I have those lights, even got em from the same ebayer. I like em alot, but i don't like the center piece. Painted mine to match the bumper/trunk. Kayee's list said the center didn't come with it but he sent it anyways. A pic is in my profile gallery. :)

yea i was deciding if i ever go aftermarket those are the only tailights i everlike on ebay the others ones look ugly. so its either those or stock and another thing yea im painting the center piece black because having it the same color as the lights look ugly...

thx guys

If you want blackout tails, make them with the chrome tails. Don't use VHT if you want blacked out... it doesn't look right. BUT, if you were to take the tails apart, paint all the chrome on those tails black... I mean do it right, sand the chrome down and paint it with engine or wheel paint... flat black would look hawt. Then VHT the inside so the oem clear is being used on the outside... that will look insane! Thats what I'm doing.

I bought a set of Smoked tails, and they were more like bronze looking... Because the inside was chrome... the lens was tinted... so it looked more brown then black...

Here's what it would look like if you VHT the Chrome tails... You get tinted chrome tails! Not something I cared for... but I am going to tear them down and paint the chrome flat black!

Wow that does look sweet! The chrome doesn't look that bad imo. How much of a pita were they to get apart? Def something I think I'm going to look into now, thanks alot!

These tails were sanded then sprayed with VHT nightshades. Sorry for the nighttime pic but that is with the lights on. When I hit the brakes they lit up perfect.

Those look good. I plan on getting thesehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120146222668&rd=1#ebayphotohosting
would it be a fair match in your opinion or not? I have never used Nightshade nor saw it before in person, only in pics.

I cant stand those chrome tail lights. They belong on a honda. Stock smoked out tail lights look awesome. That is route I would go.

If that's the only chrome on the car it's kinda pointless but not bad looking. You really can't see the insides since it's blacked out though, since that's the point. I def don't want the stock look of those chrome tail lights innards, nor do I want the carbon fiber look that is also offered. I think I'm going to Nightshade my stock tail lights, and go from there. My drivers side light has a chip taken out of it,so I was looking for a reason to replace them completely LOL,that's why I suggested those Matrix lights.

Edit: if you wanna see disgusting chrome look at this...<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c355/dikdiamond/Eclipse921.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> Look on my profile pic it's gone LOL

Honda... Not everyone can have the same exact views that you or everyone else has! I hate rice as much as the next person... But when it comes to something that I can build onto to make look nice, like I did with those tails (I converted them to LED using Semi Truck Tails), and then painted the insides black... It looked hot. Rice or not, it was NICE! I got 500 bucks from those tail lights alone, and that paid for half my down payment of my 97.

Here are those tails during the LED Conversion Process... These are real LED Tail lights, not those cheapo tails on ebay.
Each LED Cluster cost 25 bucks at TA. The inside peice (the only one you see here) were the parking and brake, the outsides (the ones that weren't installed yet) were set to blinkers.

I agree with project talon on that one. The head lights look great, but the only thing I don't like on the CF tails is the chrome accent. And the chrome tails are super nasty looking. I could not live with myself if i had those on my car.

I would go with the Lamin-X dude. My buddy put it on his TSX and it got a rock scratch in the film. He let it sit in the sun for an hour or so and it fused itself back together, i was amazed. It looks really awesome. I'm gonna put it on my crystal headlights when i get them. Just my opinion though.:laser:

me and my buddy mixed up a candy black paint and have started to tint taillights and have even done some headlights! IMO this stuff has worked better then anything i in a can. We have been using 4-8 coats on the taillights depending on how dark the person wants them, and the headlights look GREAT with 1-2 coats on the! keeps them looking tinted but at night they are still bright as hell? we have been doing alot of them if any of you guys are interested send me a message I would tint them for very cheap and gurantee my work! We can also tint just about any other piece on of plastic on your car! just thought i would throw this out for you guys if anyone wanted something tinted w/o having to do it thereselves!
Thanks,
mitch

if your mixing paint chances are your using a paint gun, not a spray can. spray cans are one of the reasons why taillight tinting comes out not so great. once your lights illuminate you'll notice its thicker in one spot then the other.

also is nightshade really 19$ shipped on the internet? you can go to any hobby shop in regina and its 8$ taxes in. wahoo
