DECONSTRUCTION!!! Ahhh I have been waiting 18 long months for this. However, The interior developed some kind of FUNKY smell.
So, I start taking apart the interior, starting in the trunk. In the spare well I find a pool of water, almost enough to cover my windshield reservoir. Cleaned that out, and removed the reservoir, as NONE of my squirters work. Diagnosed it to be that the motors/pumps are done, all of the wiring is okay, checked with multimeter.

Detailed the interior, and the smell STILL remained... So I start taking out the back seat, Seats, and trim panels. I find a few nests from I presume mice. I clean those out. I take out the disgusting looking carpet. Turns out a previous owner cut the connectors when removing the factory amp... @$$hat:notgood:

I wash the floor down real good. 2 days later.. Smell remains. So I am thinking F*&^ it, there is a rats nest of wiring under the dash, and I cant find the smell, so why don't I make it easier on myself, and take the dash out, give her a THOROUGH scrub down, and fix the cluster%^&* of wiring job that I had inherited. And this is where we are now.
Here are some Pics.

Now what i would LIKE to do, is deaden the hell out of the car. I know I am adding weight, something not normally done by our community, but it is MY car, and I like quiet interiors (road noise wise) that are capable of DAMN good audio. I plan on 45 square feet of assorted peel and stick mats, a gallon of second skin spectrum sludge, 60 square feet of closed cell foam, and 36 square feet of mass loaded vinyl... Overkill? damn right, but i dream of the ride being quieter than a new mercedes minus the sound of my motor and turbo spool.

Also I am going to work on cleaning up all wiring, and perhaps making a harness for future gauge installs.

stay tuned for more updates.

Awesome! Glad you are going away from the ricer look. Keep up with the updates!!!

Yeah, Last winter I went a little over-board too. Ended up lining the entire interior of my project car. I also ended up buying 5 gallons of liquid sound deadening to cover what little I havnt on the interior and the underbody.

Ended up going with a product called FatMat because it seemed to be the most affordable. Havn't actually gotten a chance to test it out but it has been holding for almost a year now:

Hell to the yeah mnim.... looks GOOD!... I am looking at homedepot/ lowes peel and seal for flat areas like the floor and firewall, and covering that in spectrum sludge from Secondskinaudio.com. For the panels like inside doors, and other vertical panels I will be playing price maggot between raammat, fatmat, dynamat, and second skin's damplifier... covering that with the sludge wherever i can get my hands.. then the other acoustic dampeners on top of that... Patience is a virtue, but silence will be golden.. :)

mnim how many square feet of mat did you use? and how many layers? and what plans do you have?

Only used one layer. I have very little left and still need to do the hatch and doors. I had to cut a section out of the floor when i was putting the AWD gas tank in and it had the undercoating on the bottom and the fatmat on the top, it was super solid.

This is the liquid i went with:

As far as plans, I have new black carpet im putting in. Converting the interior from black:tan to black:grey.

Where the old spare tire was I'm going to make a fiberglass box for a JL 10" W7. Right now designing a "high-output" style box that will incorporate the truck floor and hide the sub.

I made a custom bezel and removed the upper center duct from the dash to relocate the heating controls and am integrating a 9" touchscreen tablet for in-dash data logging with link.

No more need for gauge pods!

nice... Thanks! Although I think I will stick with Second skin audio's spectrum sludge for the other material...
