I had never done this type of work on a car by myself nor thought i would ever have the time/$/balls to go through with it. Id like to thank those of you who gave me tons of useful information whether it was through direct answers to my questions or posts you made years ago that i dug through. Ive never taken an autos class and only really tinkered around on boat motors before owning this car so everything ive done was because of dsmtuners.com
Ive been 'lurking' for a while now due to:
*Blown transmission.. ouch.
Wanted so badly to get my broken one built up, but just couldn't afford to ship it out since the car needed a lot of other w($)rk. Finally after craigslist stalking I found a used one and installed it. Looks clean, feels like it shifts well, we'll see how it plays out....

While she was down for the count i crossed off some things on my "to do" list.
~~Exhaust Porting
I had never used a hand grinder but after talking to several people here(THANK YOU!!) I learned how the O2 housing, exhaust manifold, and turbo hot side should be hacked away at:

This picture below is not the final product, i rounded the inside out for the runners with the hand grinder as well. I CNC machined it to get it to look like this:

~~Exhaust#
Removed catalytic converter and replaced it with a custom welded straight 3" pipe#
~~Shifter Cables
Mine were horrible, all chewed up and disconnected at the bracket on the trans itself. Probable reason the trans went out.. My craigslist transmission seller included a set of 1g cables... thanks a lot man. I installed them because i had no idea and had to rip them out after much swearing. Bought a set of new ones and installed them
~~Shifter bushings
Why not?#
One of the amigos at the shop i work at cut them out for me
press fit and designed to include a washer before the pin.#

~~Undercoating
Rustoleum undercoating... 2 thumbs up. I sanded and wire brushed off most of the harder rust. Under the car and all wheel wells.

~~Cleanup
Re-routed some vacuum lines + some wire tucking
Removed the AC belt, pump, core and lines(pump wasnt working, lines all leaked, plus i plan to relocate the alt. There In the future)
Bead blasted several miscellaneous rusty brackets, and repainted them#
Replaced several cr@ppy hose clamps
Replaced several missing bolts(transfercase, trans, o2 housing)
Battery moved to the trunk
~~Motor mount repair:
I had a crack forming so we welded it closed, then welded another thick plate there for extra support. (yes i did drill press a hole in that plate after the picture was taken)

Picked up some obnoxious orange engine paint and jazzed up the ugly mounts while they were out.

Things still on my to do list:
Brakes:
New Front calipers- old ones are seized up, im assuming because it sat outside in the rain/snow all winter
New SS brake lines are ordered and on the way.
Fix a rusty strut tower
Eprom ecu + v3
Paint the whole car(it has a lot of sun fade)
Get a haircut
