[RESOLVED] Wheel Spacers for AWD- Quick Question

I had my new wheels installed last week and I feel that the space between the spoke and the calipers in front are a little too close for comfort. I know that there are hub centric 3mm and 5mm spacers that fit the DSM. My wheels are 42mm offset and I am running 225/45/17. My questions are:

1) Do I need two sets of spacers because I have an AWD even though the rear wheels clear fine.

2) Should I go with the 3mm or 5 mm spacers? I believe either will give me proper clearance.

I have run wheel spacers on my race cars for years with mixed results. Use the thinest one possible because when you use a wheel spacer you are changing the wheel offset. If the rear wheels clear the calipers fine, you don't have to use them in the rear. And always make sure your studs are long enough to use wheel spacers. For me I like to have at least 3/4 inch that the lugnut can thread on to after the wheel is installed. I feel safer if I have more though. Just make sure you measure.

I'm also kinda wondering, how much space should there be from between spoke and caliper? Basically its tightest at either end of the caliper as opposed to the middle.

Your wheel space between the caliper and wheel should be fine without a spacer. If you can fit a buisiness card between them then you are fine and dont need to run spacers.

As long as there IS clearance you're fine. The spokes on your wheels should not be doing any flexing, so you have nothing to worry about.

Its funny you say that because someone at the installer said that to me this morning, actually saying a business card! That does make me feel better, but I just wasn't sure about bumps and cornering, etc.
