I searched the forums, no info...

I installed a front strut bar on the shock towers, on the two bolts that are closer to the front of the car. The bar has the standard slight upward curve at each side of the bar pointed so it's closer to the hood. So it's like this:

../********\..

When I close the hood it closes but it hits the hood, so that theres a big hump in the hood.

FYI it's a cheap Ractive bar. I ordered it from Nopi, for my car/model/year. Am I doing something wrong? Has this happened do anyone else here? Besides the fact that they possible sent me the wrong one any ideas?

Thanks alot.

is it mounted on the wrong 2 bolts?? Just a thought. I have a Ractive front bar, and it fits fine...

Where do you have them mounted on? Theres three of em.. the one's closest to the front of the car, or the ones closest to the back of the car?

Try mounting it to the bolts closer to the firewall(back bolt), :thumb:
when I first installed mine I assumed that it mounted to the bolts towards the front of the car(front bolt), I was wrong.
Anyways locating it to the bolts closer the firewall fixed my problem.:dsm:

Tryed that.. doesn't look like it fits.. LandoAWD where do you have it mounted? Closer to the firewall or the front bolts?

Well if youve tried to mount it every way possible then its probably the wrong one, just my opinion.......

It might be a long shot but have you tried raising the black bumper deals under the hood? there should be one on your left and right as you open the hood bout an inch in diameter . Not sure if that would give you the clearance you would need but I would try it if you already havent.
good luck.

On the two bolts nearest to the firewall. See my gallery for engine pics.

anybody have this problem? If i bolt this strut bar on the car, my CF hood won't clear it..

if you guys DO have a strut bar, what type is it? so that I can get one..

hmph.. i've ran it that way since it was on the car with my stock hood. and if you'll notice, there's no real way to make mine position the way that bar is in the picture you provided. also, you can't see it, but there's no way you can bolt on this strut bar and have the little holes for the battery tie down either .. so  your face! LOL

99gst.. it's a stock OEM hood i picked up from Dre (DreGSX)

I don't understand, can't you just leave the mounting brackets bolted down, unbolt the actual bar from the brackets and turn the bar around. That simple, if i'm wrong correct me.

You are correct....:thumb:

Fiddle, grab another cheap eBay replacement, have at the old one with the Vise-Grips. It jogs like that to duck under the hood reinforcements (and no, it won't matter enough to the "stiffening" of the towers to make any difference).
At least you don't have the mounts on the towers on backward.

blcknspo0ln - Oddly enough, when I used to use my strut bar, it was mounted just like yours is. It came assembled this way and it always fit just fine, so I always assumed this was the way it was supposed to be.....

Mine came assembled backwards as well. I didn't think it would fit properly because of the hood bracing but tried it out just to see & mine wouldn't fit. Like suspected rubbed on the passenger side hood reinforcement. Switched it around & no problems :thumb:

Is there a difference if it is on backwards or not? I dont think it would matter unless you are missing clearances. It still does its job of holding the car together.

no, it won't effect the performance of the bar (if any) if it's on one way or the other.

and yes, I will concede that defiant is right. I didn't realize the other 2bolts holding hte bar on (had hex and nut), so i switched it around and it went on perfect.

damn you defiant. haha

I have a problem with the front strut bar I installed on my 95 Eagle Talon. Well the box didn't include any instructions so had to kind of wing it but I bought it off Ebay. This included the front and rear.

Ebay 95-99 Eclipse Strut Bars...

Well I installed it and now my hood won't close. I am not sure if I did something wrong or what but I have a few pictures I will share to show you my problem. Please help.
